Thursday Off to the Radiotherapy department for The Planning Session. Airy waiting area and WRVS come round with tea! Excellent. But there was a TV on in the corner, which no-one was really watching, with a load of squawking bints arguing at full volume on some godawful sitcom. No need for that I thought selfishly. It might be a nice, genuine distraction for people waiting for treatment, I know that. But give me a radio every time! After a half hour wait, went through. It wasn’t as hi-tech as...

For anyone wondering what has brought this about let me tell you ... Mr Bad Fairy has started his own blog called "The Staff at The Bad Fairy household". I can hear muttered comments saying "And the big deal is what?", well the big deal is that Mr Bad Fairy is a very private person, he's someone who keeps his...

Dad is still bumbling along in the hospice slowly getting worse, there is a chance he may get home for christmas. He is basically stopping eating just now, he is like my 3 year old grandson when I ask him why he didnt eat his veg. Its the highlight of my day asking dad what he had for tea that evening and what it was like, I have had "how they expect anyone to survive on that", "it was shocking even the nurses said it didnt look nice" my favourite...
We lost our dear mum in the early hours of this morning. Almost 12 months after being diagnosed. She had all of her family round her and she eventually slipped away. I know she is with the angels now and that is some comfort at this time. This site has been a great source of support for me.
Take care everyonexxx
I've just read through The Bad Fairy's blog and, as I happen to be married to said fairy, I thought I should give another angle from the 'staff' at home (Please don't tell her I was very impressed otherwise I might need to buy her new, slightly larger, hats!). I understand now that a number of users join in and read posts as family and friends of cancer patients to gain an insight into what happens in this complicated world so I hope this blog might prove to be just as relevant but...

We are still in shock I feel like someone looking in from the outside and it is all just a dream.
We have been given all the Hospice information Bert has had a...
...... and I wasn't ready to part company with them!
No, I wasn't about to join the local rugby team, not even the ladies one! This is the story of the hospital's one and only attempt to perform an endoscopy on me. Somehow I don't think they'll bother trying again!!
It has to be said the hospital porter was lovely, very chatty and cheerful as we whizzed along the corridors. On arrival in the sparkling new endoscopy suite the welcoming committee were nice and cheerful too. Lots...
