    cervical cancer that has spread

Hiya guys,  I was wondering if you could give me some advice. Back in Dec 09 my mum was told she had cervical cancer stage 4 IVA, so at this point not terminal.  She had radio therepy and was told a lot had gone and they felt confident she would be in remission within 6 months.  The docs were happy to leave mum for a 8 weeks for the radio therepy to continue working and when she went back for a checkup they told her it was terminal.  Its hard to explain exactly where the cancer now is but the doctor...

    A fortnight of....

    ……fun and frolics!

OK, who forgot to pack the fun and frolics? I can do the odd funless day with no frolics but not two weeks worth thank you very much!

It all started (surprisingly enough) about two weeks ago. After a chat with Dr Socks we all agreed that the Red Devils needed to be sacked as they appear to have done what little good they are capable of. Next question, what to replace them with. The pin the tail on the donkey game came down with the tail pinned in Taxotere...

Having one of those frustrating days.....

In the grand scheme of things it was nothing, but when hot, tired and busy it was becoming the straw that broke the camel's back!

Yesterday morning I awoke to find that the insect bite on my arm, received whilst doing the Race, looked like a large archery board regardless of the antibiotic cream I had been using. So it was a trip to the docs morning surgery (no appointment necessary) where I had to sit with the great unwashed for almost 2 hours.

After receiving my oral antibiotics I went...

    Surviving

How do you answer the question "How are you today?" when things have gotten so far from normal. Do you just simple smile and say ok, when deep down you are far from being ok. Or not too bad, is that more appropriate. Seems like these words and phrases are made for when life is peaches and roses, and when your worries are what your going to have for dinner and is your washing going to dry in time, or that your feet or a little sore because you have been rushing around all day.Yet now the standard...

  • My Partner Has Breast Cancer - Our Story
Thank you for all your good wishes and thoughts

I haven't been able to reply to everyone individually who has commented on my blog posts and has sent good wishes.

I have found, and I am still finding, writing this blog to be a real help to me. It may sound strange but just writing about what we are going through... what Sally is going through... is so helpful to me, but for some reason it is. I find that in having to think about our experiences I also have to try to put them into some kind of perspective and this seems to help me handle what...

    i feel like a fraud

    why.

well since they initially found the cancer tumours and the baloon went up, there followed all the hustle and bustle of operations and rad treatment (2007). then there followed the start of checks and prosthetics, and here i am in 2010 still a work in progress,  and i still cant get some of the answers i need and want, or dont want . ( trust me to get a not too common problem ). I seem to be on the back burner waiting for one thing or another ( waiting patiently ) still on the long road. anyway...

    A Fond Farewell

I haven't visited the community for ages.  This is because since 22 May I was back and forth to the oncology ward at York Hospital - that is until 4 June.

Keith had to go in for pain control; the palliative care team were really good, and after trial & error managed to find a suitable cocktail of drugs administered by syringe driver into the abdomen. Around 30 May he began to vomit brown gunge - so they put a drain down his nose and into his stomach.  At least that stopped the vomiting.

    Cycle 4 Starts

The past few days has been quiet on the blog because we managed to get a few days away in the caravan. These days are a great way for us to relax and recharge our batteries ready for the next cycle of fun!

Sal went to the hospital ths morning for her pre-chemo blood test. Her Hickman line wouldn't allow the taking of blood so they had to get it via a vein again. This time they didn't have any problem though and all went well.

So the next cycle has started. It seems to be settling down to...
