  • My Mum, Me & Stage 4 Cervical Cancer
    Sun 14- Nov 2010 - what a difference a week makes

This time last week I was spending a weekend watching my Mum be more ill than I had ever seen her and here I am a week later and if she wasnt in a hospital bed you would almost say "there is nothing wrong with her", she is sitting up and chatting, jumping in and out of the bed (quicker than I would!) and looking good. When I talk to her on the phone its like "old times" where I am in my house and she is in hers and we are just catching up! It makes it all the harder knowing that the Doctor...

    The Widow Vibe: Black Widow?

Sorry – this is a long one – again.  Stick with me.

I was up on the ladders a few days ago:  there were gutters to mend – intractable cast iron ones, the joints of which have terminally rusted.

The rain has been pouring down the outside of the walls of Cold Comfort Cottage for nearly two years –  cancer rather eclipsed the minor matter of household maintenance.

Of course, in order to mend gutters, I had to enter the portals of a ‘man’ shop – an empire...

    mesothelioma

    Hi there,

As per my previous post, dad was diagnosed in the summer with mesothelioma, his health has gone downhill since then.

at the moment he is taking oromorph for his cough, although i am unsure as to how a painkiller helps his cough.  he has been really ill this week with cold sweats, high temperature, coughing all the time and feeling very sick.  We are unsure as to wether this is all part of the illness or maybe an infection, or maybe the medicine.

he had radiotherapy a few weeks ago and...

    First Anniversiary

Well, I'm away this weekend but Sunday is the 1st anniversiary of Steve's death.  I can't believe the year has passed and I still feel numb but no amount of crying and being beside myself is going to bring him back and as my friends on the MW site say he was genetically coded to die at this time.  It doesn't help though but I am totally astonished at the number of people that is affected by the death of a partner, child or parent.

Anyway my good wishes to all that are on this site

Husband just started sutent - after advice and experiences

Hi everyone, cor where do I start.  My 47 year old husband was diagnosed with a brain tumour (further tests showed mets from Kidney) and had it removed in April.  He then had the cancerous kidney and adrenal glands removed in May.  Had a clear scan in July but found out in October that it has come back around the lymph nodes surrounding his cancerous kidney that was removed.  He started a course of Sutent on Tuesday and we're after advice/experiences from people who  are on it.  Am quite scared about...

    the waiting game

My husband - 44 at the time -  was diagnosed in february 2010 with cancer of the oesophagus. It is situated at the junction of the stomach. He is rated as T3 N1 M0. Having under gone  9 weeks chemotherapy at The Royal Marsden Sutton, he was given a date for the operation. There was an 8 weeks wait for his body to regain strength.

Unfortunately within 4 days of chemo finishing he noted that his eating had started to deteriorate. A few more tests and another meeting with the surgeon concluded with the...
