    Into The Unknown
Not sure what I'm expecting to post here. Am still at the early stages, i.e. four or five weeks, after Sal's (my partner) diagnosis and still struggling to take it all in (the background to where we find ourselves today is in my profile). I guess I'm hoping to find some avenue of expression that helps me to continue presenting a brave front and keeping things positive and stable for my kids, my partner's family and close friends - all the people that have been affected by the last couple of weeks...

    A lighter blue today
There is a magpie in my garden. Every day I look out of the window, there he is. Alone. I'm sure he has a partner, in the tree or something, but he never takes her out. So I wave every morning, and say 'Hello Mr magpie, where's your wife today?' Stupid I know. But I can't seem to break the habit. For anyone who read my blog yesterday, I feel slightly better today. Yesterday I ranted and shouted at the clear blue sky, yelled every swear word I could think of, cried and dripped tears onto my dear little...

    Marathon countdown
I can't believe the marathon day is almost here. It seems like years ago that Stuart came and asked his dad (Ray) to nominate a charity for him to raise funds for, but it was only January. The chosen charity was St.Gemma's Hospice in Leeds. What we didn't know at the time was that Ray would be making use of the services offered by St.Gemmas's quite so soon. My daughter and I are going to London on Saturday to give support to Stuart when he runs his race. Stuart is taking his future wife with...

No news - is it good news? I don't think so.......
Well now - I haven't fallen off the face of the Earth. It's just that I have nothing much to tell - even tonight (Tuesday) nothing has changed. I still feel quite well (which must be good), I still have a job (which must be good) and I've just had a nice meal (which must be good). So, Dr Freud, does that mean that all is good? I'm not sure. Don't get me wrong - I'm nowhere near as low as I was last week. Nothing like it, at all. In fact, I feel really happy about life (and that's mostly thanks...

    Feeling blue
Hi Everyone, I haven't been very active so far on this site - but find myself logging on more and more. Also, have shied away from writing blogs etc, too shy. But now I need to talk about things, or fear I'll crack up. I have very rare cancer called 'phaeochromocytoma', which is a tumour arising in the adrenal gland. It's linked to another type of tumour called paraganglioma, which usually starts in head and neck, but can start anywhere. It's also hereditary. My sister had neck tumour 10 years ago...

    heartburn sickness & headaches!
Hi, I am being treated for grade 4 kidney cancer, and have been on Avastin and interferon injections, I was wondering if there is anyone else out there who is having the same treatment, and does anyone know what would be helpful to combat these awful side effects i seem to be having, headaches bloatedness, sickness, nothing i seem to take is getting rid of the headaches or heartburn! At least the lymphs in my neck appear to be shrinking!

Who dropped the pennies in my penne?
I have been dying (okay, maybe, maybe not) for a nice small bowl of pasta. Nothing major mind you, just a small 3-4 inch bowl of penne with red sauce and a meatball or two if I could stuff it in. Since I can't shop for myself I made a small list for honey to get at the food store. I did ask for meatloaf mix x2 pkgs (pork, veal, beef) to make the meatballs. What I recieved were two packages of powered meatloaf mix to flavor meatloaf. Okay, I wasn't specific and life around here has gotten either...

You all have no idea how much you've helped....
This is going to be a very brief note - simply to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has written blog comments and sent me PMs after my Dark Night blog about Thursday / Friday. So many of you have been to the same places I went to - and, I guess, I will go there again - but, with your help, next time I will be ready to fight the demons, beat the beggers and get out the other side. Last night - Friday / Saturday - I slept well once I turned in. I only woke up in the night because I needed to ;...
