I have had to wait three weeks for the results of the re-excision and sentinel lymph node biopsy. Christmas was a useful distraction, although there was a big black cloud hanging over everything, and I was constantly reminded about the cancer by the pain in my arm.
The consultant immediately said it was good news, that the results had come back clear. The lymph node result was what I was dreading most as the presence of cancer in the lymph nodes would mean the cancer was one stage further advanced...
It's now a week since I had the re-excision. I've been up and down emotionally and physically and I feel that recovery hasn't been as smooth this time. Trying to get out for walks, but feeling couped up and frustrated all the same. The lymph node biopsy site is still quite painful, but the re-excision site is ok. It didn't help that I fell down the stairs and hurt my good arm quite badly! My parents have been here to help with the children so I can concentrate on resting - really glad that they can...
This operation was to remove the rest of the lump and to check the lymph nodes for signs of cancer. I had the same surgeon.
The operation went well. They kept me in overnight because the operation had taken place late in the day and they needed to observe me.
Like last time I came round afterwards feeling as if I'd had a satisfying sleep! Back on the ward however I started crying uncontrollably... think it was a lot to do with not having eaten since last evening, and it was now 5 pm!
Loved...
At the time this begins, August 2016, I was 34, married with three children aged 8, 4 and 1. I was a passionate breastfeeding advocate and homeschooling mother.
I was breastfeeding my one year old little boy and was increasingly sore on one side. I thought it was thrush, so I went to the GP who prescibed me something for thrush but he wasn't convinced that is what it was. He had a feel of my breast and noticed a lump. I knew it was there; I had actually had it checked out a few years previously and...
I have been keeping a blog elsewhere to keep family and friends up to date with how I'm getting on with my breast cancer treatment. However, I would like to share my story with fellow sufferers so have come to the Macmillan site. I will be copying across my previous posts from that blog which means the dates will not be accurate, but at least the story will be.
Hope it is helpful to somebody.
During mid 2012 I developed what I thought was tonsillitis have suffered frequently with it as a young child & teenager. The glands on the right hand side started to swell so went to my local Doctor. She prescribed a 7 day course of penicillin which has always worked previously.
7 days came & went & it didn't touch what I thought was an infection whatsoever. I returned to the surgery the following week, as I was working away as a business improvement consultant. She wanted to prescribe the same...
I've had a fair bit of red urine the last couple of mornings. I've been drinking a lot of water recently. I don't know if it will help but it seems to prevent too much red urine. Perhaps it just waters it down, who knows? This waiting period before the op is pretty scary. I sit willing my tumour to shrink and fall off. Probably won't but I want it to know I'm coming for it. I'm having it killed.
Ultrasound on Monday. I hope and pray to God that my lump is not invasive. Op...
For me so far, the waiting part is the worst. I feel a little like a tornado at the moment. My feelings and thoughts spinning and changing direction so quickly.
I'll be feeling positive one minute, and then the next I'm bawling my eyes out like a baby. Then comes the obsessive googling and researching. I like to be prepared but is there such thing as being too prepared?
I also think up all different situations in my head about things that haven't even happen. And might not either! Like...
Hi everyone!
Welcome to my new blog! (My first ever blog I should say!!)
My name is Megan, I'm 23 and I'm started this blog mostly to help myself deal with what's going on right now. I've always loved writing so figured this would be a good way to help!
My story began at the beginning of this year when I saw my GP several times because of irregular bleeding, bleeding between cycles, spotting and bleeding after sex.
I was told time and time again it was due to my pill...
Hi All,
Following my first chemo on 30th May, I had terrible pains in my left calf (down from knee to ankle) it really ached. I went to my GP who said it was nothing to do with the chemo - it is the site of an injury I incurred when hit by a car in 1981. I said I thought it was strange that this injury suddenly hurt me after 36 years of nothing but a few cramps in it? GP gave me cream and painkillers. 4 days later I insisted on another appointment and was referred for an ultrasound. On Sunday...
