    Karen's Catch-Up #2

All too soon it was back in for the 3rd and final dose of IVE which means being hooked up to a drip from Wednesday to Sunday. Just a case of sitting it out really - no sickness a bit of nausea at first. It’s just a slog really because they have to test your urine for blood all the time and you’re woken up for observations and changing bags over during the night. By the end of the week I’m just really tired. So nothing to whinge about at all really, haha. I was doubly pleased that they’d got it...

Straightforward really - a few antibiotics for an unknown infection and my first blood transfusion because haemoglobin was low one day - if anyone knows any B positive types get them to drop a pint or two off in the morning. By the way, I’ve just found out that the Japanese predict personality, romantic...

  • My beautiful Grandad Pat
    About consultaions!!!

When i used to go to hospital appoinmaents with my grandad, I was the only member of family the Haematology and PIU unit staff saw.  I built good relations with them and when i took my grandad for bt's, i would talk in private with the doc or staff nurses about any concerns.  In July when i expressed my concerns about my thoughts of progression of my grandads condition (ie, he was more tired and sleepy, more unstable on his legs, he had blood spots apearing on his skin, sometimes short of breath...
