The Slice & Dice is done!!!!!

Hello mates hope you are all doing well, I have missed you whilst at the medical mansion.

Well the op is over and i am thrilled to say it was a success as was my breast reconstruction. Still very sore, swollen and achey but Im home and on the road to recovery so i can commence the next part of my journey.

The care and attention i was given at Walsgrave Hospital was second to none and i cannot say enough about the whole experience. It almost seems as if this little part of the journey was absolutely...

    Kids and Hubby !!!!!!!!!!!!

Well another day, a good day too. Happy news for a change, I met my 8th grand-daughter today. Little bit of family history so you will understand why its been so long before meeting her.

My son (always the little bleeder) is serving a 4yr prison sentence for a drunken brawl, he is not normally a fighter so this was a shock to us all. He started his sentence 6th December last year. In May this year his fiancee decided to end the relationship (bless him, never been good a being a bad boy, always got...

    How to cope?

Nearly 6 years ago my nan (dad's mums) was diagnosed with cancer, this was a horrific experience for me as I'd never had anyone close to me die. My mum and I and the rest of the family looked after her at our home untill she passed away.

Then last year my other nan (mum's mum) was diagnosed with cancer, she also went to live with my mum and dad and brothers, (i had moved out by this time). From being diagnosed, nan had lived for a few weeks but had the best possible care from everyone especially...

    Not what we expected

My dads op was meant to be yesterday. After working in the morning I went up to my mums with my sister and 2 nephews. We'd just made a drink when my dad phoned us and said we needed to get there quick.

The anaethetist said because of my dads history and the fact his 1 kidney is only working to a third of its capacity things are bad. They think the tumour in his femur is from the kidney and its aggressive. We have 3 options.

    1. Do nothing and the femur will snap within 48 - 72 hours if he comes...

  • My Lovely Wife Julie
    My Lovely Wife Julie 19

Words are hard to find to express what I feel.

I am living the life of two people and I am getting tired.

The time off I get from Caring is usually used up with errands connected to Cancer.

    But enough about me.............

Julie is plodding on, occasionally under too much medication but mostly coherant and pain free.

Outwardly she is not the girl I married but underneath she is still the woman I love

    Time to choose

The biopsy has confirmed TaG3, so I do have the choice of BCG or surgery. The doctor - a pleasant but young registrar - didn't have much information to add to what I'd already gleaned off the interent, but wouldn't let me decide there & then. At least he didn't try to sway me in either direction.

I have to back on July 12.

I can be grateful it's not worse and the sense of urgency has abated slightly.

    Our Journey: Treatment Time

After an emotionally intense few weeks of being advised that cancer was suspected, to having cancer confirmed, to then have to wait for a specific diagnosis; we are finally here!  It's Hodgkin's Lymphoma - stage 3b.  My darling husband who has been amazing throughout all the prodding and poking, the blood tests, multiple scans and 3 separate biopsies; he now faces his first Chemotherapy treatment.  A clinical trial!

He's felt ill since Monday (more than normal) following the PET CT scan....
