    Wigs and eyebrows

As alot of my concerns have been about how I will look during chemo I decided to do something about it. Had semi permanent eyebrows done on Monday and tried some wigs yesterday, They were amazing and very natural looking, will decide on mine next Wednesday and will have it cut to suit my face shape. Also had Emotional Freedom Therapy which I found really helpful although I did cry, guess that is part of the process. Start my chemo at 11am tomorrow and now just want to get on with it, sooner I start...

The Widow Vibe: Not life as I knew it … and some helpful tips for friends and relations of the recently widowed.

If going out to work, managing to feed and walk The Hounds, feed myself (just), deal with the Ancient Aga and its filthy flues, dig myself out of snow, bring in the logs, deal with the mousetraps …and so on, and so forth  …. if doing all this means that I am ‘doing well,  I am ‘doing well.’

Despite snow shoveler’s elbow (the very unsporting cousin of tennis elbow), and the fact that I am thinner than I have ever been, I am ‘dealing’ with things. ...

  • Hello. An introduction.
    The finer details...

Thank you so much everyone that answered yesterday. I was having a wobble and you really touched me xx

After my hurried explanation I thought that I had better fill in some of the finer details.

So Dave has a Grade III Astrocytoma on the rear right hand side of the brain. It is/was roughly the size of the palm of your hand and was too deep to be operated on. He had a grading scan but it could not be used for diagnostic purposes so he had to have a biopsy to grade the tumour.

TBH it has all been a bit...

    Grandad too

As if it wasn't bad enough losing Dad before Christmas and trying to come to terms with everthing a life with him no longer there entails, I get kicked in the guts again by my grandad's death less than 2 months afterwards - he had prostate cancer.

Fed up of illness, and funerals, I'm still young, I shouldn't be dealing with all this crap yet.

    Running after breast cancer

Only recently finished chemo and rads (still having herceptin), and got some further surgery but running the London marathon on 17th April.

Found out that I got a place to run for Macmillan at the end of last week and have managed to grind out my longest run of 6 (slow) miles so far (so only 20 to go!). Eek!!

8 miles planned for my 'long' run this week and feeling good. On a superficial level, really hoping my hair will be long enough by the marathon to feel comfortable running without a hat...

Scans Reviewed - Outcome not as expected!

Well we reviewed my husbands scans yesterday after 2 year ritux maintenance therapy and the tumour in his abdomen had gone! but a new one around his right kidney had appeared!!! whats that all about?????? Nobody knows what to do about this and the Doctor is going to discuss these findings at a case meeting next week to pull other doctors brains.  This is all a bit unnerving to me someone taking control would be nice.
