    can't understand

i haven't been on site for a few days but when i signed on a few minutes ago I seem to have joined the melanina group and the testicular cancer groups.  I have no reason or memory of joining these groups and was just wondering if this had happened to anyone else.

Anyway best wishes to you all

    Take care

    Scan Results - 2nd June 2011

What a way to celebrate the beginning of Summer!  After a long 7 day wait, received my scan results yesterday and its all good.  The drugs are continuing to do their job and there has been no further progression.  The one lymph node infected in my neck has not reduced or grown and there are no signs of cancer anywhere else.  The two hour wait at the hospital was worth the wait!!!!!

Now all I have to do is continue to take the capcitabine for two weeks out of three, herceptin every three weeks, enjoy...

  • Bladder cancer story
    Unreality

Here I am, feeling fit & well, apart from effects of stress, yet I am a person who has cancer.

I've had a bladder tumour removed, yet I have been told it may still be lurking deeper or even have spread.

I'm studying the sickness policy from work, cancelling a holiday & claiming for cancellation.  Somehow telling my friends has been OK but dealing with this paperwork makes me feel it's really something serious.

It's the forthcoming surgery & subsequent intervention that will...

    How You Can Help Me

    http://veryyoungwidow.blogspot.com/2011/06/how-you-can-help-me.html

I found online an article which I feel is very relevant to anyone who is grieving, especially for people who know someone who is grieving. A lot of the time people don't know what to say or how to act, and its something I have had to come to terms with recently.

Also, only have one more exam left now!! Really excited about going home next week, but not too keen on having to pack up all my stuff! Three years worth of university...

  • I never expected that
    A year since diagnosis

This time last year I had no idea what was in store for me. I only knew that I had a tumour and surgery would be required - probably with a course of radiotherapy and/or chemo.

12 months later I've been through chemoradiotherapy (5 and a half weeks of radiotherapy with low dose chemo), a few weeks off and then major surgery (permanent colostomy and successful removal of tumour and all surrounding area), and most recently 5 out of 8 cycles of chemotherapy. I didn't realise what a long haul it would...

    Next Stop

So I have moved on a little further had the biopsy yesterday and today am feeling a little sore, tired and generally melancholy.  I dont know why, i want to put it down to the anasthetic but that would be too easy. Now the wait until 9th June to see if there is any cancer in them, once again in suspended anmiation.

I suppose the big one draws nearer, my letter came today with an admission date of 22 June. Thats it then the unwelome one gets evicted on 23rd and i really hope he goes without too much...

    the waiting game

The waiting & uncertainty is hard. I like to be organised & plan ahead, which is impossible at the moment.

I've just got a date for my biopsy so I can gauge the timetable for the next few weeks at least.

We're expecting our first grandchild in the Summer - in Japan. It looks like we may have to make a trip out there at short notice, according to treatment/surgery schedule, rather than planned well in advance.
