    August Update

Just to let you all know David is feeling a bit better.

Still hasn't been to the loo yet (no 2's) he is passing water and has been a bit squitty but as the GP said if not much is going in then not much is gonna come out. Too much detail, sorry move on quick.

He says he still fells full up and constipated, but the waves of pain have died down, not sure if that's due to increasing his steriods, or due to the laxotose. Anyway, whatever he is not in as much pain so that is a good thing....

what a difference a day makes

Firstly I'd like to thank anyone that takes the time to read this. Having friends asking me how are things going although helpful.  Unless they have been in this type of situation I don't feel I can really tell them everything I'm feeling or going through mainly because I feel that I'm burdening them so....

After a couple of rough days worrying about how little she is eating because of the nausea and vomitting she seems to slowly day by day being able to manage to keep food down...

    Big Adventure Booked

Surprise phone call this morning offering Fri 2 Sep.

So this time next week my RC & neobladder should be well under way. I feel as ready as could be, but I'm sure there will surprises to come. It will certainly be a novel experience & probably the hardest thing I've ever done.

Looking forward to visiting our new granddaughter in Japan next Spring.

    And what now??

Today I finished my Breast Cancer treatment...hooray!!!.....or is it really??

I have been on this journey all year...lumpectomy..auxilliary clearance...18 weeks chemo...split with partner of 6 years....5 weeks radiotherapy...Tamoxifen...side effect is finally depression and now I am released into the world again.

I am frightened....I have not had to organise myself for the last 8 months and although I have waited for this day feel very low...I know I am one of the lucky ones to have been able to...

    Nearly there

Final pre-op clinic appt Thurs 18.

Long wait & boss still held up when I was called in as a Fellow came in - asked about the patient experience so far. The ideal opportunity to praise the attention while there, but point out the stress of waiting at each stage, being misled about timescales etc. Registrar came in as well & got a brief resume!

CT & biopsy clear (effectively a 3 month check up) so all options open. Finally consultant appears apologetically as he had just been called to theatre...

    Low sodium and potassium

Hi folks, I haven't blogged for several months now, but I keep an eye on how all my Mac friends are getting on.

But now I'm hoping for some information - my elderly mother-in-law has low sodium and potassium levels (not cancer-related, as far as we know, but she has other medical problems). She has been in hospital for several days, is very confused a lot of the time, has little appetite and is on restricted fluid intake. It's hard to get there at a time when a doctor is around, and we can...

The worst experience of my life

I am 24 years old and 3 months ago I lost my father. I have always been a daddy’s girl and was the closest person to him. People often described me as the apple of his eye.

My dad was always very fit and active for his age at 66 he was still beating people half his age at tennis. But in January he went from walking to a wheel chair a month later. At first we never expected cancer; we simply thought he had a bad back caused by a slipped disc. It was only until March 4th when we decided to go...
