    Part One

Hey there. Hello. Good morning. Or afternoon, evening, or indeed whatever time you choose to read this. Glad you could make it.

I might as well introduce myself while you're continuing with this little book. My name is David Crews, 17, from Lichfield. I was diagnosed with a Stage 4 Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma nearly two years ago now... wow, I hadn't realised it was so long ago. Time flies when you're having fun(!).

This will be a sort-of story of my time through the...

  • Grief
    Part 1

I want this blog to be about loss and the different ways people grieve.

To start the story – I am a young (ish) person who has recently lost my mum to cancer, only a few short years after the loss of my dad also to cancer. What has surprised me the most is the different ways I am grieving for them both and the questions I ask myself about whether that is normal or not? And how much should I cry? Or feel angry? Or guilt?

Or indeed guilt for not feeling the right way?

    At the moment all I...

Happy Birthday To My Prostate Tumours

Well Looks Like it’s that time of year, the Anniversary, and not one bloody card lol. Mind you. I  only realised today myself, so it’s a bit hard to critisise anyone, but hell a bottle would of been welcome lol, used to get them every couple of hours in hospital.

Well will have to update my Bio I suppose, 3 1/2 years since the 'Black Day' - when I was told 'You have inoperable Prostate cancer' - not exactly what I expected. Been treated for 8 years for enlarged prostate, even had a bio...

    Rough day

Yesterday was a pretty good day, went to see my mum and dad and though my mum was tired we went into town and had coffee, our favourite thing to do. We then spent the rest of the day talking about things very openly about how we were all feeling and I am so lucky we can all do this, many families struggle to talk about their feelings.  I said I felt guilty about having a life and worried I had I been a good enough daughter, both reassured me in both cases and it did help me get some comfort.

    Today...

    here we go....

Those of you who have read along the way know I was once a rebel kicking against something or in actuality  nothing and giving up smoking was the end of the last act of rebellion in my life. So since me and Mr Cancer were introduced (not very politely...

  • A New Way of Life
    Ok, here we go!

Ok, it's late & I should be sleeping, but I'm on my own so it's time to blog something!

I decided that when I got around to starting a blog I'd start with where I am now, then I'd go back over the last few weeks before updating as I feel.

So right now, I'm 40 years & 7 months old. (I somehow, but don’t know why, feel the 7 months is significant!)

    I'm married with 2 children. A daughter, 15 years old, & a son, 8 years old.

I work as a nurse doing the...

  • The mysteries of Mo
    October 18th 2011 (pt3)

A night carer came in at 10pm today called Karen,my first night care,as it happened coincidence or not,Mo and I knew her.Karen lived along the road from us before we moved and Mo use to go along and see her in the evenings once, twice a week to have a good old gossip (which wasn't hard!) and a cup or even several cups of teas.Mo use to stay with Karen for a couple of hours, sometimes even longer depending on how loud the jungle drums were playing. Then she would give me a ring and I would walk to Karens...
