    Here and now

Just thought I would write an update as I have been absent from the site for a while.

Well Christmas was not as bad as I thought in some respects. That said, the B&B was shocking and totally unsafe so I checked straight out again. I was so poorly with awful sickness that I went to stay at Parents house. Think they were shocked to see how ill I was after not visiting or having bothered to make much contact since I became ill. I think it did them good to see me like that really. That said they still...

  • Help for a Polish friend
    Information on treatment available

Hi I wondered if anyone would be able to help - I received a phonecall this evening from my friend who is in Poland at the moment visiting his mum who is suffering from cancer. Basically, he has been told by doctors there that they have exhausted all the treatment options, and he phoned me to ask if I would know of or could find out about any further treatment options that might be available to his mum in the UK.

Both my friend and his wife are Polish, but live and work in the UK (in Glasgow).

    Round 5 ovarian Cancer
I am going to be having more chemo next Wednesday this will be round 5! I have had two years since I finished the Caelyx. It has lasted better than expected my Ca 125 had not got below 35, but I think l have done well to have two years. Several deposits have been found but I have a deposit in my liver. This is the first time a major organ has been involved. I have always coped well with chemo I hope l can do the same this time. I will be having Carboplatin and Gem some think can't remember. I have...

  • SHADOWS.
    Shadows.

With the Sun in my face, the shadow I cast does not trouble me.
It is where it should be, behind me.
I look forward, to my future, and I see no shadows.
When I do look back, I know where I am, for I see where I have been.

As my horizon gets closer, and the Sun begins to set
The shadows behind me get longer.
I am small in this World, but as I grow older I cast a bigger shadow.
Perhaps the setting Sun flatters me . . .

At my horizon, all is behind me, all is in shadow.
    Looking back, I see them
    Emerging from...

A show with everything, including Yul Brynner

Day 15 of the chemo today, and the last infusion of Cycle 1.

It’s been pretty much plain sailing so far, but the first
overt side effect looks like it’s starting to appear – a gentle tug on my hair
results in a good pinch of follicles coming away – so I’m on the way to joining
Telly Savalis, Yul Brynner and Vin Diesel as a baldy.

So time to shave it back, but I’ve decided to have a Mohican
for a day to celebrate my hair whilst it lasts.

    I don’t know if subsequent...

  • Heartbroken
    help

My 43 year old extremely health conscious, fit and active husband noticed at the start of October that he had some rectal bleeding which he ignored for 2 weeks - when he casually mentioned this to me I insisted he go to out GP the next morning - he done this and was referred for a sigmoidoscopy on 28 October - he was told at this procedure that he had Chrons Disease, they also took some biopsies, and he was started on a medication which made him very unwell - he lost a stone in 2 weeks - he...

    Upcoming Blood Tests & Scans

So I thought I'd add a post here because I don't have an anonymous blog on the interwebs to feed my thoughts. For the record, just because I know someone has gotten the wrong impression, I'm not actually afraid of dying, or of having Cancer. The thought of leaving my parents and brother to grieve is the only thing I fear or much rather dread. It's hard to come to terms with inflicting that on the ones you love.

I'm seeing the dermatologist on Monday the 9th. I've been booked in for...

  • Bummer....!
No Balloons but Ooooh shiny things! aka appointment with a surgeon and lunch with Odin!

So Little My got up early and tried out her new shiny thing from her bruv… a sat nav and drove to the shiny new hospital somewhere in the middle of some unpronounceable middle of nowhere place  in Wales. Oooh shiny hospital… all single ensuite rooms instead of wards and shiny corridors etc. Very empty.

Got to the shiny weirdly colour coordinated waiting room of orange and grey... and only me and an old couple in the corner… oh not have long to wait then thinks LM.

    “Little...
