    Chemo, more turbulent than an atlantic crossing!

    I haven't been on here for a while as things have been, well just read the title.

    My gorgeous mum has now had 3 lots of chemo every 3 weeks.  We have faced all the horrible symptoms chemo throws as you, including her losing her hair. Probably the worse thing for a woman.  Mum went downhill rapidly after the 3rd treatment and was getting steadily worse, her temperature rose and she couldn't get out of bed.  We took her to hospital on the advice of her Oncology department and was admitted to...

    Fast Approaching 2012

    Just to tidy my ramblings up, I'm just going to start a blog... :-)

    2012 has come up as fast as anything - I can't believe how fast 2011 has gone - it seems like it had only just begun, and now it's nearly over. Even with 2011 having been my worst living year by far, it feels like it's been the quickest..

    However, as much as I wish so much for 2011 to just go away, it's 2012 I look forward to even less. What will 2012 have in store for me? Probably more pain, sickness, hospital...

    christmas day....and beyond...

    I did enjoy the day, very quiet.. watching TV, I'm usually running around like a headless chicken all day.....

    My mum cooked...she made far too much...but it was finished off yesterday....!!

    I had a glass of wine...but then my dad asked if it was 'upsetting my tummy'...''dad. I'm 47''.

    I had a bit of a cry in the afternoon...but they saw me and sat round me and all that....didn't really want that....I know its all going to be alright, I know that if this treatment...

    A Merry Christmas to One and All ....Mick & Mavis

    Christmas Joys

    Evergreen boughs that fill our homes
    With fragrant Christmas scents,
    Hearts filled with the loving glow
    That Christmas represents;

    Christmas cookies, turkeys stuffed,
    Festive holly berry,
    Little faces bright with joy,
    Loved ones being merry;

    Parties, songs, beribboned gifts,
    Silver bells that tinkle,
    Christmas trees and ornaments,
    Colourful lights that twinkle;

    Relatives waiting with open arms
    To smile and hug and kiss us;
    These are some of the special...

    a visit to GC's Grotto and God Jul One and All...

    Went to see GC today, in case you hadn’t heard already (as if!!!) . Was tempted to do the musical light up antler style merkin to give him a laugh, but then thought he might run away screaming so best not eh? Still, the idea made me snigger.

     So just the polished shiny bum and Rolos in and off we go…

    The place was really crowded and there were extra clinics etc on (I guess to see everyone before Christmas) Usually it’s just me and the 80 year old ’oooh don’t you look well’ ...

    A short update

    Yesterday went for what was supposed to be the last chemo session,but onco, has decided to have a CT scan done to see exactly what is going on with the cancer so maybe I will have more,one has been booked for 12th Jan.......the day a good friend of ours is getting married....we may miss the ceremony but should make the reception.           I also mentioned the severe pain in my joints expecting to be told that it would go away when the chemo is finished    but no   seems i am stuck with it because the chemo...

  • Imminent meso surgery
    And so a week or a lifetime later, here we are
    Unfelt tangly, I am becoming a wealth of knowledge about all of this and I don't think we've really started yet. Mum had a clinic appointment and was so breathless as we waited to be seen, struggled to laugh at my jokes. For goodness sake, my mum always laughs at my stupid jokes. So we saw her appointed nurse and were soon whisked away for the commencement of first stage pleuridosis aka the talc op. Three days later and after talc insertion, mum is sent home. Does diabetes make a huge difference...

    WASH FOR CANCER ....MICK

    THIS is SCOTT WADE. Check  out what he does with the dirty cars by carefully and artfully removing portions of the dirt. According to his web site, he lives real close to a dirt road in San  arcos, Texas .

     IN MEMORY . . .

    These are the colors that represent the different cancers. All you are asked to do is keep this  circulating. Even if it's to one more person. In  memory of anyone you know that has been struck by cancer.

  • In good hands
    Finished until after Christmas

    Today was day 8 of cycle 1, so in for a Bleomycin infusion –
    and touch wood still no real adverse side effects from the treatment. I even
    swapped the anti-emetics for boiled sweets as they are just as effect now, and
    I can stop taking many of the other meds until the next cycle starts.

    So, that’s it until after Xmas for the final infusion of
    cycle 1 – it seems things are going fast.

    Thank you to all my friends who have supported me to this
    point – I’m extremely blessed to have you...
