My dad was diagnosed in June last year. It was a really hard thing to hear and made no easier as I as the one who had to tell my brother. A coupe of months later he had a big operation on his neck which we were told would take about 3 hours - so I was mentally pacing after 6 hours and he was still in theatre. The operation was complicated but successful and my dad spent a couple of days in intensive care before being moved onto the ward.
Once he had recovered sufficiently from that, he had 6 weeks...
On November 12th my mum was making home made pickled onions for the first time. She was boiling vinegar and chilli for the onions to go in. The smell of this made my dad feel yukky and this is when the cough first started. The cough carried on and everytime we prompted him to go to a doctor he said no as associated the cough with being because of the boiling vinegar. Then nearly a month ago my mum finally persuaded him to go as he was coughing more. The doctor he saw was not the usual doctor and...
