I haven't written for a few days ... mainly because I have developed double vision and I don't really enjoy reading or writing as much. I apologise in advance, because this post is really, really long!
It came as a bit of a shock when I awoke on Tuesday morning with double vision. It can be a symptom of MS and, over a decade ago I did experience several visual disturbances, including double-vision. However, my take on this episode has been slightly different as when I googled (Yep, I know...
I live with extended family and about 5 days ago my sis-in-law was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer of the meninges. Since then they have moved her from our local hospital to Guys as they are better equipped to test and care for her condition. My husband feels she has lots hope of surviving, this is her 3rd episode in under 3 years :(
She has been told its a matter of weeks and now they're considering the option of chemotherapy if its viable to improve her prognosis. My husband and I are...
This will probably be my last blog post for a while and the reason is a good one. I've been on the thyroxin for 28 days (threw the first empty packets away this morning) and there have been no noticeable side-effects. Or there might have been, but my ongoing mental and physical heath issues make it hard to tell. I've had a couple of very low moments and angry moments, and I've been very tired. Today I intended to have a little lie-in and woke up at 1.30! But there has been so much else going on I...
After losing the ability to taste on Saturday, I'm glad that I have recovered this sense (around the time of Sunday's roast dinner).
My mouth continues to feel sore inside my cheek and towards the back of my mouth. I had to stop eating raspberries today because the sensation was too painful - so food choices are important.
On the basis that I haven't lost weight so far, I today started a more focussed eating regime. I am having a healthy protein, fruit & veg, limited carb diet with lots...
Good Morning All,
This sort of thing is new to me! My wife found this site during the week and has suggested I use it to enable me to get and hopefully provide support and advice from fellow TC sufferers. Unfortunately this is my second TC the first time was 13 years ago (unlucky number!!!) I was diagnosed for the second time last week after my testicle didn't feel right. It was quite hard and a little swollen but as I only have one testicle I didn't have anything to compare it against.
...Hello, you can tell I'm back on form because here I am steaming at the gills about some nutritional misinformation given to me yesterday by a well-meaning friend. We were chatting on the phone about my stay in hospital, and I mentioned that because hospital food is inedible but you are not allowed to bring in hot, cooked food, I compromise by taking in oatcakes, peanut butter, fruit, dark chocolate, green tea and other goodies, so I've always got something healthy to eat in my locker. 'Peanut...
Hi, I was diagnosed with melanoma in may 2013. In July 2013 I had a wide excision & I've been all clear so far. but for 8 weeks I've had intermittent daily headaches which are not specifically in the same place in my head, the pain seems to move & change position all over my head. I also getting forgetful with what i have just done a few minutes beforehand & or can't get out some of the words i need to say.. .My cancer nurse has arranged a CT scan for this wednesday. I've...
On Friday 21 March, met up with Doctor Kumar at UCLH who is conducting research on the muscles of the rectum in different situations. My contribution is 'before' and 'after' radiotherapy. My R/T starts on Wednesday 26 March, so this was the 'before' stage.
Finally got to my appointment 5 minutes late and he whisked me straight in. First, the consent form: did I know why he was doing the research, did I know what was going to happen, had I had a chance to ask questions,...
