After a two week holiday in Scotland I embarked on my fourth chemo session or "cocktail" as a fellow patient prefers to call it. Passed without incident other than the inevitable tiredness and the neuropathy. This is the last pre-op chemo. On being discharged from hospital my oncologist gave me a big hug and kiss on the cheek and said he was crossing his fingers for me.
Met with the surgeon on Monday. I'll have an endoscopy on the 27th and a CT scan on the 1st December. All being well surgery...

My husband has spent the last 13 Year’s dodging the cancer bullet, as so eloquently put by his specialist. At least 9 ops numerous biopsies and checkups, always revealing severe displaysia but always just one cell change away. Jumping back to last week, not the one just gone, I worked hard and cleared my kitchen, cleaned it all down, and did the same to my living room. It was hard work, and I ached all over, but it was gratifying. A friend of mine gave me an extract to try, and it's amazing! Where before I'd often needed an afternoon nap, or two, and just had 0 energy, or I'd maybe manage to get into the kitchen, spend 5 mins doing...
I am really starting to HATE this word! It seems to be used more and more! I hold my hands up, as yes I have used it too! But you know what, there is no 'just' in all this!
I met with a friend yesterday she also has Secondary Breast Cancer. We were chatting about things in general when she made a comment about something she read online. Ladies almost comparing their cancer and how one was worse off than the other and how they should stop complaining, because she would love to swap places...
After about 18months of trying out different pain meds yesterday I collected my prescription for Fentynl Patches! As I looked at this small box in front of me I couldn't help wondering, if maybe, just maybe this little box held the answer to all my issues!!
Of course there is every chance that these patches, won't work or will cause the same side effects as the others, or worse side effects....if I'm really unlucky!! But it's worth trying!
I have never been a big pill taker, even...
I have an lung abscess and had spinal osteomyelitis (bone infection) leaving me in severe pain. Have been on fentanyl patches and immediate release oxycodone, they want to add hydromorphone (it is Palladone SR- I have the prescription so this must be the brand name) , he said was 8x stronger than morphine, - has anyone got any experience with this medicine?

It's been 18 days since the nightmare began. Eighteen days since Mum was admitted to hospital with high blood pressure, a super fast heart rate, ascites, constipation, nausea and general feelings of being poorly. We'd been for a scan the previous week (but Mum didn't have a scan that day, she saw a consultant that only confirmed she needed a scan and got it booked in for two and a half weeks later) and she'd had a couple of doctors appointments prior, to address her issues....
Unfortunately after 3 Chemo treatments my husband has been taken off his chemo as it is not working as well as they had hoped. They say he has to go on a different type in two weeks. Feeling so disappointed and worried. Has anyone else had this happen? What does this mean for his prognosis? He was on Folfox.
