    No more chemo, what now?
We went with dad to chemo clinic today, the Doctor has suggested dad stop the chemo, dad has agreed. I am not totally sure of the reasons why, resistance was mentioned and thats fine if I was 100% that was the reason. Last week we went and Dad had been having issues with his memory and some pains down in the groin area. We spoke about this with the Dr and Dad confessed that he drink 4 Pints of beer a day. I of course know that this is not true its more like 4 pints 2 whiskey chasers and then...

Hairy Cell Leukaemia - Chemo and Liver Function tests !
Hi I have been a member on this site for a while but haven't posted anything before, I was diagnosed with Hairy Cell Leukaemia in July this year and following two different treatments I am having problems with the results of my Liver Function blood tests. Perhaps I should provide a little more background, I have just turned 40, married with two children - following a blood test in May last year it was noticed that my blood counts were irregular and so the chain of events began which led to my diagnosis...

    one down 14 to go
Well, thankfully that was easy. First rads done today for BC. Just a few moments under invisiable rays and off you go, see you tomorrow they cheerfully cry. Compared to chemo its a doddle. See what i say after three weeks lol. But, i am like red rum running down for the last furlong, and aiming for that finishing post to gain my prize, which is another go at life, hopefully i will get it right this time lol. With minus 10 out there its time to pamper myself and keep heating on tonight, keep...

    Thank You For The Support
Deal all, i only came across this site in August after finding that my 60 year old father had advanced liver cancer. During the past four months i have found a lot of comfort from reading such positive stories and seeing such support everyone gives each other. I have only joined in a few times, asking the odd question here and there and have been so overwhelmed with the kind responses. Sadly on new years day my wonderful father passed away quietly at home with myself and my mother sat with him. While...

    New to blogging
Well I've never tried blogging before but, since being diagnosed with myeloma, I've found so much inspiration in reading other people's stories, I thought I might try my hand at sharing mine. Some background information: My name is Leanne. I'm a 47 year old mother of two (19 year old daughter, Kahlie and 17 year old son, Cale) married to Tony. We live in a large country town called Maitland, about half an hour out of Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. Tony works as Superintendent of Conveyors...

    Home at last.
Once Stephen went to sleep I went back to my husband who was waiting for me on the ward. Because Stephen couldn’t have any food or drink, neither did I, and I was feeling very hungry. We went to the canteen had something to eat and more important, cups of tea. After about one hour I was phoned and told that he was out of the theatre, and I could go down and wait for him to come round. Back to the ward went my husband and off to the theatre went I. I had to wait a while, the doc. came and said it...

    Any suggestions-Could use some advice
Hi everyone, My husband had cancer of the tongue 3 years ago. He is still suffering today from microscopic mouth burns from the extensive radiation that he received. He still can not eat foods that he loves. Has anyone else experienced this at all? Does anyone have any suggestions on what he can do to find some relief? He swishes with lanacane, bendryl, and mylanta often. I would love to find someone who has experienced a similar situation. He could really use some support.
