Rob's comment to the reporter re: why he had his back waxed brought tears to my eyes. Your blog of your vacation brings to light how cancer makes even the smallest of things large...maximizes life's events like nothing else can...almost teaches us how to REALLY live a life so it is full and with depth, and with quality. I think we are ALL enjoying your vacation :) I would love to see a pic of you in those snazzy thigh high striped socks...lol...Cella

    How frustrating
I called yesterday to get an appointment for Friday to have a thoracentesis so I could breathe normally again. Nothing new or unusual with this request. I get 'tapped' about once a week until this chemo kicks in and I go for longer periods of time until there is zippo fluid to drain off my lungs. Well, I am told there is no appt. open until Tuesday AM. I guess they can't/don't want to squeeze me in any more. I wanted to go tomorrow early. They told me I should go to the emergency room at the...

Steroids for Breathlessness - Please Help
My Mum has secondary breast cancer in her lungs and is so suffering with breathlessness. The operation went so well but is now suffering with her breathing. The oncologist said to take steroids for 6 weeks but the GP took her off these "weaning" them down each week. The breathlessness has returned and is really bad. How long does it take for steroids to work? Have you taken them for any length of time? Apart from oxygen, is there anything else in a tablet form that will help? Does it mean the cancer...

    I miss my hair
I miss my hair... i miss walking, running, and just getting out on my own. They found a tumor on my right knee and thus that is how I found out I had cancer. The tumor weakned my knee and so now my family don't let me drive and take me everywhere. I just miss my independence of doing what i want and going out & about. But I have started swimming and that helps alot. But the great side of it everyone goes with me when i get to go out & I don't go alone anywhere ;-)

    Nellie
Well, I've never written a blog before so have no idea what to do. I thought I would join this website and try to find someone with a similar type of cancer to mine. I have Neuroendocrine cancer (NET), probably originating in the Pancreas but found by ultrasound scanning of my stomach which revealed lots of tumours in my liver. I had been losing lots of weight and had diarrhoea so went to the doctor for further investigation. They thought it was IBS at first but finally in Aug/Sept 2006 they...

    Slow But Sure
Not much seems to be happening from a hospital front, I have had an email saying they received the blood from my sister and are getting it tested but that is as far as progress has gone. I have another appointment next week so maybe I will find out more then. I also have a normal clinic appointment next week; I will only have been back on the drugs for 3 weeks by then so am not expecting any surprises in the blood counts but maybe they will have the results of my last PCR. Things at work at getting...

    Radiotherapy fatigue
Hi all Can anyone give me a brief idea how I might feel throughout 15 sessions of Radiotherapy over a three week period. I know my skin might feel irritated but just how debilitating is the fatigue I have heard of? My rads are not due to start until April (I still have two chemos to go - 9.3.09 and 30.3.09. Any replies welcome. Thanx Maureen

    Toot Toot:Next stop...hypertension!
Sure enough, if there was going to be an issue with hypertension once I received the avastin, I was going to have hypertension! Of course, why not?? I have had all the other side effects one could have for ANYTHING...for ALL of it! All aboard the 'adverse reaction' express!! Sooo, now I take lisinopril. Or, I WILL be taking it as soon as hubby gets it for me after work. Okay, what's my gratitude?? That there is a drug that can lower my BP and spare my kidneys harm. geesh...
