This nightmare just keeps on going on and on
Hi everyone Just a quick note because I am flying to Australia to be with my daughter for her 30th birthday tomorrow. We had some great news in February because I hate using the word but double remission from thyroid and cervical cancer. But they found fluid around Claire's heart. Why when you have good news they temper it with bad. That was checked and at first its nothing. Then the cardiac guy said oh it could be a spread. Then others said it was nothing to worry about. But how can they...

    After the Marathon
Well, it is the day after the Marathon. All the build up and hard work has paid off. Jennifer (my daughter) and travelled on the train to London on Saturday morning. We arrived around 12:15. After eventually purchasing our travel passes, we braved the underground to get us from Kings Cross train station to St.Paul's. The hotel was about 200yards from St.Paul's cathedral. After meeting with Stuart and Kayo, we had lunch and then they set off to look for rings. Jennifer and I went into the...

    RT starts tomorrow
Well, the CT prep went well and Sal didn't seem to traumatised by it. Of course, having her mother there probably helped with that - sometimes those lifetime 'roles' we have had as parent and child that we never seem to outgrow help us through the bad times because the lover and support in them is so tangible. The RT starts properly tomorrow (it says 'calc and input' on her appointment sheet, not sure what that is so if anyone can enlighten me I'd be grateful) and lasts initially for the next two...

Be nice to me, I have cancer
Hi, This my first post here so let's see how it goes. I'm an Israeli living with metastatic breast cancer with lots and lots of mets to the bones. I've started treatment 15 months ago and things are going fine. Within this time I learned how to talk about my cancer without crying about it especially when people ask "When are you supposed to finish treatment?" - Never "Never? So You're going to keep doing it for years and years? How long does your onc give you?" - Statistically when there's mets...

    Getting There
Things are finally happening. The funding for my sister to donate in Australia has been agreed and I have a new provisional date. We are just waiting for confirmation from the Australian hospital. I have been back to the hospital several times for lots of tests, these were not hard or painful they just involved lots of waiting around - see details below if you are interested. The lung function test is all about blowing in a tube with a clip on your nose. It's not difficult but it did make me...

    Problems with fingernails
My fingernails just started hurting. The papers from the doctors say "fingernail changes are likely." hmm On the internet, I find that Taxanes (Taxol, Taxotere, Docetaxel) often cause discoloration, pain, and nails may loosen or fall off. Anyone else know anything?
