    Palliative brain radiotherapy
Hi - I'm very new to this - both dealing with the effects of the cancer on my Dad and trying to manage this web site. The computer age had passed me by a bit, and I'm doing my best to work out how to use the site - but I will get there! I suppose I've joined to stop feeling so isolated and hopefully to see if any one else has any experience of this type of cancer. The specialist we saw has said it is very unusual - perhaps one case every 2-3 years - its a cancer of the nerves in the skull and it...

    Race 4 Life
Today was Race 4 Life in my local area and even though I have ran this rce every year today was even more important to me than it has ever been. I was so proud though as I managed to get my sisters and my nieces and even my newly born great niece togehter to complete the run. I ran it with vigor and shed he odd tear on the way round. Ironically Race 4 Life has always been an important part of who I am now. I first ran for my partner's dad who died of lymphoma. I had never ran before and I trained...

Support needed - Acute Myeloid Leukaemia
Totally new to the site and seeking support!! My best friend was diagnosied with APL (which is a type of AML) in November 2007, went through chemo and lost her hair. She was in isolation for nearly 6 months and was allowed to go home in April of last year. She was doing fab until April this year when she re-lapsed and began treatment - arsenic trioxide. She was due to get maried last year but had to cancel because of the treatment and then today had the bad news that their wedding has been cancelled...

    Stress
Feel so down today and wonder, as I have done so many times, why the Cancer Curse has struck. Life is so unfair - I look at John and cannot understand why he is suffering so much. The consultant has postponed for a week John's sixth - and last - chemo as side effects are taking their toll. Chemo should have been next week, will now be week after - John wanted this as he has been feeling so poorly. He is being sick, has no appetite and has, subsequently, lost even more weight. We just want...

    5 surgeons
This made me laugh I hope it brightens everyone's day Five surgeons are discussing who were the best patients to operate on. The first surgeon says, 'I like to see Accountants on my operating table because when you open them up, everything inside is numbered.' The second responds, 'Yeah, but you should try Electricians! Everything inside them is colour-coded.' The third surgeon says, 'No, I really think Librarians are the best; everything inside them is in alphabetical order.' The fourth...

    One Step Closer to Wellness
After 4 months and 5 cycles of chemotherapy to shrink the tumor in my son's kidney he was finally operated on last week,June 9, 2009. The surgery went well and the urologist was able to remove his left kidney along with the tumor intact and there was no spillage outside the kidney. My son is healing well from the surgery and the long cut in the middle of his abdomen is closing already and will hardly be noticeable soon. We had to stay a little longer because he got an infection and needed antibiotics...

    A lifetime of cancer.
Once upon a time there was a young man who had been married to his young wife for four years, their life was full of hopes and dreams for their future. They had a toddler and a baby and they looked forward to all the years ahead of them as a family. They were good people, they did no one harm, they had good careers, life could only get better with time. They dreamt of a day when they could travel the world together, their children would be grown up and leading good lives, so they would be able to...

    Neck radiotherapy
Hi After completing 3 cycles of chemotherapy I have now moved onto radiotherapy which is to be 15 sessions. I had my second session today and on the way home I realised that my ear ached on the side of the radiotherapy ( which is being done on my neck on the right, and upper chest). A couple of hours later I noticed that my neck hurts just below my ear round about at the end of the jaw. It aches and is sore to touch. I phoned the radiotherapy unit who said that this would not be connected with the...
