    One week down.....

Well it has been exactly one week since I was diagnosed.

What a week is all can say. Been pretty traumatic, so many emotions in such a short time period. I am just totally exhausted physically and mentally. In saying that though today Im starting to feel as if I might, and I say might, just be able to cope with this. Think my mini meltdown yesterday actually has really helped and I can start to come to terms with this and focus on fighting. At least for today anyway.

    Just got to conquer that...

  • How to Help your Mum Survive Pancreatic Cancer or Not
    A week after diagnosis

On friday the 19th I was told that my mums pancreatic cancer had spread to her lungs and that from now on any care that she received would be palliative.

For a couple of hours I did not react but merely asked questions, " Can they not do chemo?"/ "Cant they cut them out" It took me a great length of time to realise that this was a death sentence for my mother.

I immediately began research online and was greeted with horrid statistics for pancreatic cancer that was operable...

Help Please Liver Function test abnormal

Hi to all on here, I send everyone my love.

I was wondering if anyone can help me. I am at present having chemo no 8.

My last 2 liver function tests were low. So my onc wanted me to take a week off or take a reduction in dose.

I chose the latter, so I was given a reduced dose by 25%

I couldn't afford to lose another week, I lost 2 at New year and I have a deadline to aim for. I need my stoma reversal done before July as I am going to a wedding in Zante in September.

    Has this happened to anybody...

    The Legacy of Hope
Today is this year’s Holocaust Memorial Day, marking the 65th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau. The theme for this year’s Holocaust Memorial Day is The Legacy of Hope, something many of us will or have felt. I visited these two camps during a trip to Poland in 2001 and stood in the guard tower in Birkenau that you can see here and took a photograph of the scene picture below from the opposite view (not this actual photograph - mine was taken with a panoramic lens) and I have...

I HAVE BEEN TOLD SHE WONT GET BETTER

I have recently been told my mothers treatment she is currently receiving for secondry cancer of the liver and bones will only slow down the cancer but will not cure it.

Is there anyone on here who has been under similar circumstances who can just tell me straight what to expect over the next few months. i find it hard to talk to my other family members about this because it is upsetting for them also.

I would very mutch like to hear peoples opinions/advice on this

    thanks Russ

    MRI disaster

Well it has been a bad start to the day. Was supposed to have my mri this morning but i just couldnt do it. I feel like such a failure. Everytime they tried to run the scan I just kept bursting into tears and was moving to much so the quality of the image was not good enough. I feel like such an idiot. Thought I was doing okay but today just lost it completely. They ended up sending me home as I was just too upset and so it has been rescheduled for thursday. Its not the confined spaces, i think just...

The Meddlesome Wife, in keeping with the honoured traditions of the ‘auld alliance,’ has been taking a tiny sip (or two) of some of France’s finest, and is reflecting upon the day.
Earlier, Our Hero (after one bowl of porridge and soft-boiled egg) took himself off to have his photograph taken for his disabled person's parking badge – something he has not felt he could justify until now....

    25th Jan 2010 Bertiebassett

Steroids made Bert completely manic and paranoid, it was a bit scary. He thought I was going to hit him then he was sobbing for ages, then he wanted to paint the bedroom and was out of bed in a flash ready to do it. He paced the floor for hours. My nerves were shot to pieces as he kept stumbling. He kept hanging over the top bannister to shout something downstairs I had visions of him going head first over the top.

All is calm for the time being Steroids stopped today and he has not to have any...
