Help Please Liver Function test abnormal

Less than one minute read time.

Hi to all on here, I send everyone my love.

I was wondering if anyone can help me. I am at present having chemo no 8.

My last 2 liver function tests were low. So my onc wanted me to take a week off or take a reduction in dose.

I chose the latter, so I was given a reduced dose by 25%

I couldn't afford to lose another week, I lost 2 at New year and I have a deadline to aim for. I need my stoma reversal done before July as I am going to a wedding in Zante in September.

Has this happened to anybody else. Doe's anybody know if the reduction will make a big difference.

I have another 4 to go, I don't know if the reduction is for the rest of my treatments.

I would appreciate any comments or advice.

Love to you all Julie X

    Hi Julie

Can't remember what chemo you are on. I presume you are having Oxaliplatin with either 5FU or Capecitabine?? I have been fortunate in that all my chemo sessions have gone to plan with my white blood cell count being okay before each cycle. My friend has had a completely different experience. Every cycle, almost without exception has been delayed because her blood count was so low, so although we should have finished around about the same time, she is only half way through. Apparently the Oncologist has now decided to reduce the dose to 80% to see if this improves matters. From what I understand, this is not going to cause a problem with it's effectiveness, but I;m not sure if this is for the remainder of her treatment. If you would like me to contact her for further info, please PM me and I will give her a ring.
