    Day 5 of lenalidamide!

Well - I am still here - only side effect I have so far is a little bit of itching on my forhead and scalp - guess I can cope with that.  I also have to take Allipurinol - which I thought was odd as hubby gets that for his gout but apparently dead cancer cells turn into protein which then turns into uric acid - so it is to stop that from building up.  Sure as heck don't want gout on top of everything else.

Energy levels seem to be okay as is appetite.  Another bone marrow asp on 23rd March whiich...

    Further family visit

This week we have had a visit from Ron's father and brother. Coming over from England meant that they stayed a few days. It was a change for Ron but non whatsoever for me. I still barrowed the logs in from the wood pile. I still laid and fed the fire and brought baskets of logs up from the basement several times a day. I still worked in the garden (large)clearing fallen leaves etc. I would not expect help from Ron's father. He is 85, frail and looks after Ron's mother who suffers from dementia but...

  • My Melanoma Radiotherapy Diary
    Day 4 Of Radiotherapy

My Mum came with me again today but think I will do next week on my own.  Got to the hospital without too much trouble and waited my turn.  Lots of people there that I'd seen all week.  Lots of elderly men today.  All arrived and changed into dressing gowns and slippers.  Did look funny, all sitting there in dresing gowns, nattering like old women!!

Anyway, got to my turn and had my treatment and the last of my scans.  Yippee I've done them all.  The pain in my arm was really bad today and it really...

    Turmoil

Haven't been on for ages, have been having chemo and have my last CM F on the 24th of March and really looking forward to the end of it all, now I have had 2 core biopsy's to see if the cancer has come back or if it's just left over lymph nodes that are growing again, don't know what to think, what's the use of 6mths of chemo if the cancer can just come back, has anyone else had this?

    finally said it!

Just had mum on the phone to tell me how dad got on today at the hospital.  Consultant was very surprised and pleased to see how well he looks on sutent this time, he siad that despite what they say about not being able to go back on this drug once you've been on some of the others he's going to ignore it and keep dad on.  That was the good news - why does this always seem to come with a but...............

Although the xrays showed that there has been no change in the size of the tumour, its...

  • My Melanoma Radiotherapy Diary
    Day 3 of Radiotherapy

Had an early appointment today so got the girls to school and met my mum at the train station and off we went.  Felt sick and nervous but nowhere near as bad as the previous day.  Got there early, changed, popped my card in and sat down and waited.

There were a few people there that I had seen on previous days, we all said hello and chatted about things in general.  There was one old lady who was paying £70 a day in taxi fares to get there for her treatment, so we all chipped in with ideas of how she...

    home

Clive came home today looking massively better , and is much more confident about getting around. We have oxygen at home now, so this will help with his confidence if he starts having problems again. The consultant went through his ct scan in detail and it was more encouraging than we expected. The tumor has grown more over to the left and has collapsed one chamber of the lung by closing off one of the tubes. The radio will be zoning in on this area to improve the breathing. We were also told the...
