    confused and want to help

My friend was diagnosed with ovarian cancer late November/early December 2009.  She didn't tell me until Boxing day (and she hasn't told her parents at all!) - she said she didn't want to spoil my christmas. She told me she would have to have the ovary surgically removed.(she only had the one ovary as she had the other and womb removed years earlier for other non-cancer related problems) I was devastated for my friend and offered her all the help & support she felt she needed from me. I then...

    Radiotherapy almost done

My  six weeks will be finished on 22/03/10.

No, it doesn't hurt at all, can't feel any heat or anything strange.

If you have transport arranged by the hospital you may be waiting around, a lot, but it's a chance to get to know other patients 0: )x

Be prepared to feel very tired.

  • My Melanoma Radiotherapy Diary
    Day 12 of Radiotherapy

I have noticed that my chest is beginning to look a bit red and is slightly sore to the touch.  Not badly and not enough to mention to any nurses etc, but I can see and feel a difference.  Also I can't breath in deeply. hurts to sneeze, so maybe something is burning my lungs.  Nothing major.  Nothing to complain about, just wanted to note it for future reference really.  When The girls came with me last week, Charlotte wore her pedometer and worked out, between the 2 trains we walked 2 miles each...

  • My Melanoma Radiotherapy Diary
    Day 11 of Radiotherapy

Late appointment today (16:00) so had to arrange for the girls to go to Grandmas for tea.  So what do I do with my day then??  Long hot bath, with a cuppa and my book.  Not allowed bubble bath etc but it was nice to just veg instead of rushing around.

So got train at 2ish and got to the hospital in time.  The room I normally get treated in is being serviced so I'm in a different room with different staff.  We were all talking in the waiting room about side affects.  We all said it's not as bad as we...

Dafs are up and holiday booked.

    10th March 2010.

February went by almost unnoticed and I have been really busy working with my son to try and get him through his last term at college.  I've really enjoyed learning again, so much so that I've taken the bull by the horns and contacted Bridgwater college in the hope of securing a City and Guilds Dipolma course starting September 2010 for Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology, with an extention of Complimentry therapy.  Hope I'm not biting off more than I can chew.  Waiting for...

  • A little help please?
    New to this...

I really want to do some fundraising but I'm kind of stuck as to what to do.

I was thinking of dog walking, £1 per dog maybe?

It would be in the Stafford area, I've looked on forums but I can't see a lot on there in the way of guidance.

A little bit of advice please :)

Feeling a lot better and making some progress with my dissertation....

Hi all, I am finally feeling a bit more like my old self and am trying very hard to make some progress with my dissertation.  Some of you will already know that I am trying to find a way to make Ports more easilly available on the NHS after having such a difficult time trying to get my own and knowing what an enormous difference having one has made to my life.

Please read the rest of this post to see if there is any way that sharing your experiences might be able to help me achieve that goal. -...
