Hi all, I am finally feeling a bit more like my old self and am trying very hard to make some progress with my dissertation. Some of you will already know that I am trying to find a way to make Ports more easilly available on the NHS after having such a difficult time trying to get my own and knowing what an enormous difference having one has made to my life.
Please read the rest of this post to see if there is any way that sharing your experiences might be able to help me achieve that goal. -...
Hi
I am not techno minded and am having a lot of trouble getting round this site. I am 64 years old and am on the computer for 4 hours work a day but still find this a bit of a maze of confusion.
Just wondered if I could find anyone to chat with who is bereaved like me. Lost my beloved husband September 27th 2009 and now my dog has passed on aged 14.
Mike was a wonderful man, just 65 years old and it all started with a malignant melanoma which spread like lightening, after 9 months he died peacefully...
doctor Le Duc was pretty upbeat today. He reckons that the chemo has shrunk the tumours. A pity that there was a scan missing between the two he was comparing! Ron will still have to continue with chemo but LeDuc has changed one of the drugs as Cisplatin can damage the kidney function. He was taking alimta and cisplatin. Better news is that for the new chemo he will not have to go to hospital and stay in for 24 hours but the nurse can come and administrate it here at home. It will take about 2 hours...
I have two friends julie and len,ex art teachers and fairly open minded,5 years ago while renovating their french property, they had become friendly with an eldery french couple, this is in rural france,as L and J were camping in a tent, the couple invited them for a meal and as it was L and J last 2 nights, invited them to also stay the night, after a rustic meal and being shown to the keeping cellar, wine home grown veg etc,the went back to the living room, imagine this acorn antiques style, out comes...
Mike just spoke to Jim's wife. He had the op on Monday and all went well. He's been talking to his wife and apparently he's quite chirpy. He must e doing OK I guess to be chirpy the day after such an operation. They tried to get him out of bed into a chair today but he's still a bit weak and wobbly. I'm amazed they even tried so soon after such extensive surgery so again, he must be doing well. Lets hope so anyway.
I'll continue to post any news here as it comes in.

Day 10 went without too much bother. Still feeling sick (mainly when I'm rushing around to sort the girls out before school with breakfast and lunchboxes). But really quite an uneventfull day. Very tired and once I sit down it really is a struggle to get up and moving again. Skin is ok, not sore. Not had any problems swallowing, so as far as side affects go I'm ok really. Just tired and a bit sick.
That's it really for today.
hi everybody, well to day is a good day,i have had all my scans and they tell me that the cancer has not spread,so now it is the thought of the radiotherapy that fills me with a little bit of trepidation, just finished the hormone tablets and i have had my first injection,i must say that i found talking to my family that it helped me a lot, still working hard at being a taxi driver, and today the sun is shining so a good day.
Thanks for the supportive comments, even though my friends are fantastic, you need to comunicate with other people who are going throug the same as you, grade 3a if Ive got it correct, its all over, spleen, neck, chest, etc,as everyone will react differently to the chemo ill just take it as it comes, what else can you do,Im looking forward to being bald,as then I can be a drama queen, then makes my sons take notice, cause I dont look ill now,and soon my soon to be ex, will feel like shit when he sees me,getting...
Husband is 75 and for a few months had suffered from excessive burping when eating/drinking. July 2009 Went to GP after suddenly almost choking one day. GP (bless him) immediately arranged for camera-down-throat job at Southend hospital. We had thought they'd say hiatus hernia or similar...... However, they couldn't get the camera down all the way cos of a 'growth' blocking its passage and the operative told us, regretfully, it was almost definitely cancer. Biopsies were taken and a CT scan done...
