This was the day when I was due to have my mask fitted. Not one of the plaster of paris affairs but a rather fetching plastic mesh contraption that had a touch of the Hanibal Lecter about it. Apparently I can keep it in due course - Halloween is going to be a blast!
So, follow me down the long, sterile corridor into a large room with a monster of a machine that has 'Varian' stamped across it's formidable head. Similar to a CT scanner but this baby is big.
I am invited to remove my upper...
Hi everyone... I have just signed up to do the Macmillan walk across the humber Bridge next week.... not sure if i am mad as legs don't always hold up but hey ho.... will go for it.

Hi
Decided to try redressing the wound myself. Have to admit its nice when I go the hospital and they they pick off the sluff and afterwards its looks great. The picking of sluff and the slightly rougher exfoliating the nurses do are things I cant do myself. Therefore, unfortunately, it never looks as good and to be honest it looks more granulated than last wednesday.
Anyone else do their own similar dressings at home?
Have a good weekend, hope the westher gets a bit drier
!Peter
After my post the other day I telephoned my oncologist, Dr Moody's secretary. I explained to her the problem about the MUGA but that I really wanted to still see Dr Moody on Monday to get the CT results as I find these really hard to wait for. She said she would speak to Dr Moody that afternoon then call me back (this was Wednesday) to let me know what she wanted to do. Anyway I didnt hear anything until Friday...I had a voicemail on my mobile. It was the secretary saying that they hadnt been...

I am Jilly 55 yrs old and have just been vaguely diagnosed as having breast cancer.Vaguely as the consultant would tell me NOTHING except after extensive tests just said 'prepare yourself for a mastectomy' but wouldnt answer any questions or refer me to breast cancer nurse to answer the million and one questions I had.

I Didn't want to be writing my blog and be moaning about the NHS all the time but so far they have left me no choice!!
This week i collected a tennis ball full of fluid under my arm (seroma) I tried to grin and bear it for 24 hours but then decided it hurt so rang up the ward that i was treated on, they got in touch with the surgical team that advised me to go in for draining. After dropping the kids off with kind neighbours we got up there half an hour later 4.45pm and waited and waited and waited...

The nurse rubbed this cold jelly over my tummy and pressed down with her machine. Me and my husband hand and hand watched the screen, then the nurse stopped moving and said she woulod...
