On Sunday my dad had to go to Malaysia for a weeks business trip and as my mums main carer I was slightly worried how she'd cope. Ahead of his trip I went round on Thursday evening and mum wasn't in a great way. She'd just finished her last round of Xeloda and had spent the day before being very sick. By Thursday evening she seemed exhausted and was crying with pain in her 'good' arm. Although she assured us she didn't need to visit the pain clinic I quickly realised that I should re-arrange my own...
I would just like to thank KATEG & Randolph123 for getting back to me, i really appreciate their time. I will certainly take some of their comments onboard. This is just what i was looking for, people in the same boat as me goimg through exactly what myself and hundreds of other folk are experiencing. Thank you both very much. Darter
i have only recently been diagnosed with lung cancer, and it has spread to the kidney area. This came as quite a shock as it must have done for quite a few people. ! was only diagnosed on the 6th may so am still coming to terms with it all. I am hoping to attend a clinic later this week to discuss both chemo & radio therapy. Any info such as dos and donts or little tips regarding the illness or the treatment would be very much appreciated. I sometimes feel as though nothing is happening, and...
Hi all,
Have been to have blood taken today so that my CA125 level can be checked for the first time since starting this round of chemo. Fingers crossed it will have gone down. I have a spectacular bruise where the woman in the clinic literally slapped my arm to get the veins up and then stuck the needle in as if she was training for a darts match ! I know my veins are quite well hidden but she didn't have to slap them into submission. I had to treat myself to a large cappucino and chocolate muffin...
Those who know me will know I was very shocked to learn I wouldn't be having scans as a normal part of my check up procedure. I don't need them as the blood tests are sufficient I was told! The blood tests results would take 3 weeks as they results were sent to my GP!!! That was back on 18th Jan 10.
I was told I would be having 4 monthly appointments for the foreseeable future, so when I haven't yet received an appointment for May, I rang today to see what was happening. Are ya ready...
So here I am. What I hope will be my last surgery appt on wednesday. I have my first oncology appt on thursday.
Things I've decided in the last week;
1. Do some really nice walks with my husband and kids
2. Get back to Karate
3. Do a course in cake decoration
I have all these ideas which I'm sure will disappear when I start the chemo-but I can hope that I get at least some of it done.

So I got my results this morning and everything is fine. I dont know why I got in such a state. The CT shows the cancer is still very much under control and there are no new areas of concern. Also the patch on my lung on the last scan has now gone so they are pretty sure that was a bit of an infection. PHEW!! I have my MUGA scan Friday so as long as that is ok too I am to continue on the Herceptin and go back in 3 months again. I feel like I can breathe again. Thanks to everyone who commented on...
Hi, I am petitioning goverment to make cancer drugs and treatments more readily available on the N.H.S.. If you go to the 10 Downing Street website and search e-petitions type in cancer treatments or my name Waldron the petition will come up. please sign this petition so we can take the issue of funding for treatments up with goverments, the more signatures we get the better chance we have of being heard. Thankyou.
When in hospital last week her mastectomy incision opened up a little. The nurses thought nothing of it and just put a dressing on it. Since then it has opened up further and become infected. I changed the dressing this morning but by this evening it was dischaging and had become rather smelly! Sal has her second chemo Thursday so I thought it better that we get it checked out immediately and so we took a trip to the district hospital and the Minor Injuries Centre for them to have a look and to replace...
