I'm very relieved to say that my worries and concerns have now been dispelled by the news that my oncologist is very pleased with my blood tests results, and doesn't want to see me for another 3 months. I just can't believe it. I thought it was afluked last time round, and expected it to be back on chemo again today. The way I have been feeling I feared the worst, but when I said about my problems he just said 'that is to be expected - there's nothing I can do it will take time to clear...
Surgery this Friday, so I've taken a few days off to do some DIY which I suspect will be a bit less possible after Mr Peach has chewed a hole in my leg, and extracted one of my lymph-nodes! For post-op I am storing up films on the hard-disk recorder, and laying in a massive store of biscuits. I've fixed the new extractor-fan and kitchen blind, so as it's a lovely day outside I'm going to put on the SPF zillion, the hat, veil, lace gloves and parasol, and go out and mow the lawn. Actually...
Well half way through now. I have been very lucky to only have radiotherapy which I appreciate, especially when I read about the journeys people have with Chemo - however! it is starting to get very sore and red - and boy I am so weary. Been going to the gym as much as possible but made the mistake of having a personal trainer last week and it nearly killed me! I had no energy left and became very emtional/weepy and just sat for the rest of the day in a stupor - so if you are awaiting or starting...
I have only just recently joined the website. Just want to say hi to everyone. My dad was diagnosed with advance cancer on 30 June 2010. He was only being treated for a trapped siactic nerve since March but nothing was working. After being admitted into hospital by our Gp because his blood tests came back abnormal. We found out he had a primary tumour in his left lung that has probably been there for a while and he knew nothing about it. A secondary tumour has been found in his pelvis around his...
just joined your community and wanted to say "Hi"
My 12 year old daughter was recently diagnosed with malignant melanoma and I found the on-line community whilst looking for some information to share with her.
does anyone have any experience of children with melanoma? all the info I find relates to adults and already her cancer seems to have followed a different path to that that would be expected

My poor poor mum, chemo really knocking it out of her. Find out on 24th if treatment working!!!! Really concerned for mum's health, she seems so low almost as if she is given up............ Sooooooooo frustrating as nothing I say or do can make it all better for her!!
Pat's doing well after his cystectomy and it's great to see him making small steps forwards. He is managing to transfer independently from the bed to his wheelchair (he's paraplegic). He made it down the garden for a while today and we enjoyed the sunshine.
It's been such a miserable spring and summer for us that we lay in bed last night thinking of nice moments we could plan. Not the unachievable like fancy holidays but achievable moments.....like taking a picnic and parking in...
