    SUNDAY 12TH SEPTEMBER (graphic photo)

    hi

sunday 12th sept - visit to the walk in centre as worried about the redness around the wound - is only contact dermatitis but the nurses have swabbed the wound to check for infections. wound is healing well but there are some areas at the top of the wound still open. told to stop the aquacell, although good for catchin...g the fluid it can also cause overgranulation, something we fought to stop 4 months ago. will get the swab result on thursday and hopefully will be negative for infection.

    Reflecting on a Surreal Week

My mum came home from the hospice on Tuesday evening.  The doctors said she probably would only have a few days left.  But she is still here with us. Her breathing is rattly now and she has a lot of phlegm on her chest.  She has gone a pale colour and isn't opening her eyes now.  She stops breathing sometimes and then starts again and the pulse is not regular now.

We are all spending as much time with her possible.  We have been surrounded by family and friends for the last week.  I am immensely...

    Numb

Well I haven't been a member of the site for long and I haven't had much of a chance to post updates, but it saddens me more than I can ever say to report that the bravest, most wonderful woman lost her cancer fight on Sunday 5th September at The Beatson Oncology Centre in Glasgow...aged only 58 years young.

I love you mum, I hope you're in a more peaceful place now.

    Why can't life be fair?

Why does life have to be so unfair? Why do the good people have to die? If people treated each other fairly, there wouldn't be any wars, would there? Why do parents die and leave us with no one?

If life was fair, no one would die before their time! no one would become sick with cancer!.

    Life just isn't fair!!!

Sorry I am quite angry today, 9 weeks since dad has gone and now a friend has died aged 33 after her heart gave way (no further explanations yet) while her 9 year old son was on...

  • Dad, cancer and me
    OMG!

Just when I was coming to terms with Dad's situation I get the news that my birth mother's cancer has come back, (hopefully caught it early).

    BUT I MEAN, seriously,

How much is 1 person seriously expected 2 deal with b4 they go under?  Even elastic bands can only stretch so far b4 they snap.

The Widow Vibe: And the question of mourning clothes …

Just over thirteen weeks, and I wish I could bring you some cheer.  Not yet, I am afraid.
    How am I feeling?
It feels like I have been carrying around with me, scrabbling in the pit of my stomach, some wild, hungry creature that threatens, all the time, to tear through, emitting a scream which is beyond language and reason.  It is a demanding and unpredictable creature, this thing that is my grief.

Oh, I am so very good at whipping it into heel, this creature (which is more than can...

    Waiting 2

My mum is still with us.  She is fighting on, although is getting more pain as her organs shut down.  She is sedated and is being given painkillers through a syringe.  We take it in turns to keep a watch over mum and this morning, I woke up at 5.30am due to all the commotion in the house.  She was in a lot of pain and we called out the nurses, who upped her meds.  We thought she was going to leave us this morning, but she is still here with her.  Even though she cannot respond, I am glad that she can still...
