My scientific hero Richard P. Feynman died of cancer. His last adventure of discovery was to Tanu Tuva.
So about two months ago my mum started showing symptoms of uterine cancer and after a month's worth of scans, exams and being screwed around by a horrendously negligent doctor, she was finally diagnosed at the start of this month with stage 4 bowel cancer.
At first, the doctors all insisted that the cancer was still curable despite showing signs of having spread to her lungs but after having a PET scan it could be seen that there were lesions all over both lungs, and on Tuesday this week we were...
Well 3 days after my hormone pellet was placed in my groin, (could they have got a bigger needle) nothing to report so far
Still16 stone
Willy still same size
Haven't burst into tears
No hot flush as yet
Got myself into a lather thinking all the above would afflict me but so far so good
It's the first day after my 7th chemo session. I washed my hair this morning. The last few weeks, I have probably had half a plughole of hair. This morning. 2 plugholes full of hair. Literally a whole clump, a handful! Also have lost most of my eyebrows (which were always thin anyway) and only a few lashes left. Looks like I will have to start being very creative and get that emergency standby cosmetic kit out...
No matter how much you think you are prepared, it is still very difficult when...
It's hard to be emotionally resilient when your body is battered and exhaustion reigns supreme.
Healing the body has to start with healing the mind......
Reach out and bless someone who is less fortunate than yourself. It's the best way to remind yourself that no matter how bad you think you may have it, someone is having it worse than you.
Thank you, firstly, for anyone who is looking at this. I am 69 years old and many of you have known me over the last few years on the Lung Cancer group and The Room. I was diagnosed in January 2013 and was fortunate to have an EGFR mutation. Have been on Gefitinib since then and all seemed to be holding it at bay Four months ago told cancer growing! Took a blood test to see if I was TDM1 positive- that's the usual further mutation, but negative for that! Since that had I/V antibiotics for Klebsiella...
I guess my blood count has been found to be low (65 - where about 100 is the lower end of normal I think) - which was worrying enough last Friday for my doctor to almost get me a same day transfusion. I ended up having a whole 3 units two days later on the Sunday - which was a long day! I have felt physically kind of strong, or at least more...solid, but mentally/emotionally have felt pretty weird. It has strongly occurred to me the reality of what has happened - that I now have 3 pints of other...
So I realised I hadn't posted in a while - It was my release while I was having a really tough time emotionally and totally helped me get lots of my feeling out and down on paper and I guess recently I haven't felt the need to post cause everything is good but actually why wouldn't I want to share that so here are some of my thoughts and what’s been going on in my life...
Just over two years ago I was given my very first cancer diagnosis.... Oh how things can change in two years...
ok so I have fibromyalgia and have been treated for just over a year for ibs and an anal fissure the pain got so bad I couldn't stand it any more and I was referred for a colonoscopy that revealed a polyp I was then sent for and examination at the hospital and told I was being sent for surgery to find out what was going on as they had found a lump in my anus but it was to painful for them to see what it was I was told I would be in on the 2 week turn around I waited over a month and my dr had to...
Jeez!! The font on this thing is very small! No matter....
Ok, so it's been a year since I found out that after 6 months worth of somewhat tortuous chemo, and then 6 months of recovering from it, my cancer had returned to my bowel and rectum, with some spread into my lymph. I had a CT, MRI, and PET scan back then, the last of which was very revealing in terms of the alarming size of my returned tumour. I hadn't had a scan since until last Wednesday, and was hoping to discover a little better why...
