  • I never expected that
Cycle 3 started Tues - a bit better so far...

My platelets were back up so cycle three could go ahead on Tuesday. It was a bit of a shambles in the clinic and I'm glad I was on the ball and kept asking questions as it could have turned out quite differently.

For my 10am appointment they were already running an hour or so late. I was due to take a new anti-sickness Aprepitent an hour before the chemo so I asked about this the minute I sat down in the chemo suite just after 11 even though they weren't ready for me even then. Just as well...

    Disgusted

The home care assessor called yesterday to offer us a care package for mum, the visiting times from the carers would be 11.00, 1.00, 6.00 and then 7.00 p.m. what the hell are we supposed to do with that?? That would mean my mum lying unable to move in her bed from 7.00 at night until eleven in the morning?? I have told Fife Council to get this sorted. I have a feeling they  are dragging their heels hoping my mum will pass away in the hospice. The family are so stressed my sister was in tears.

  • Geoff's secondary bowel cancer on his stomach
Geoff's journey and where we are now

My wonderful partner was diagnosed with bowel cancer in July 2009 (aged 45), a week before our daughter was born.  He had a sub-total colectomy (no stoma needed) and distal pancreatectomy, followed by XELOX/CAPOX for 8 cycles, a small liver metastasis was removed along with his gall bladder in Feb 2010.  We were then told the cancer had gone and only a very slim chance of it returning.

When he went for follow up scans in July 2010 his pancreas was glowing and his CEA and CA19-9 had gone up, so more...

  • Cancer Treatments?
    New Breast Cancer Treatments‎

All the women who suffer from localized type of breast cancer are treated either by lumpectomy surgery, radiation technique and tamoxifen. But according to the researchers, the most effective is lumpectomy surgery. The women who undergo only lumpectomy surgery are considered to be alive for more number of years than the others.

But according to a study it was found that whatever be the treatment, among the 2,000 women studied, approximately all were likely to die from other causes apart from breast...

  • Peritoneal cancer
    Peritoneal Cancer

I would be really grateful if anyone else out there has been diagnosed with peritoneal cancer and had chemo can tell me how they are coping with it. Since my chemo treatment finished on 30th Dec 2010 I feel lost and lonely. I have been trying to find a cousellor in the Milton Keynes area but so far no luck! It doesn't help that there is only limited info on the web and makes grim reading for the potentailly limited future with this cancer!
