Everyone needs 5 mins calm in the day, so....
Find a warm quiet place to sit in, an upright chair (with extra cushions nearby) and sit down. Sit as upright as you can (use the cushions for your back if needed). Feet on floor. Shut eyes. Breathe. (Always a good idea).
Imagine sitting in the sun on a warm tropical beach. Wriggle your toes in the sand. Breathe In........Breathe Out. Focus your attention on your breathing. As you breathe out, let go of any tensions in your neck & shoulders. Breathe...
M started his radiotherapy yesterday. Shared the waiting room with a couple where the male half had the same type of tumour and surgery as M. Difference is, he had seen a competent doctor in the beginning so his diagnosis and treatment were fast and his chances are good. Really chatty people till I told them M's condition is terminal. Sudden lull in the conversation then.
Having people who are terminal and those with a good prognosis being treated together feels a bit like carrying out abortions...
Hello lovely people.
The strangest thing happened to me this morning.
I woke up at 9am (having not gone to bed until 3am) and me and the pooch were snuggling into the duvet debating as to whether or not we should stay there for another hour or get ourselves up and at the day. I just laid there stroking Rocky for a while and closed my eyes. I wasn't asleep because I was stroking Rocky all the time. For a fleeting moment an image came into my head as clear as bright sunlight. My Dad was sitting...
I've been to see a gastroentorologist today. I liked him last time I saw this time not so much, he's told me I need a camera down my throat. Now after hearing horror stories, I dont particularly want it done at my local hospital.
They've also referred me to Family History Illnesses Clinic, because with such a strong family history of Bowel Cancer, there's even talk of genetic testing. Now I've thought about this in the past and the answer for me then was no. Now i'm considering it. Does...

Well, it's Monday morning and Pat has been quite good for the past 3 days. He still gets a bit tired and has to contend with the problems of his Parkinsons and Diabetes, but he has not been sick and has been able to go out on his own on his scooter. It is now a week since his last Octreotide injection and things are looking promising.
Diagnosed on the 18th of August, had Op on Dec 1st. Double mastectomy. Not entirely sure I'm over that yet.
I'm from a family of ladies who have had breast cancer. Note that I don't say 'victims' or 'survivors' or any of that crap. I hate all that! And I also hate the fact that everything has to be PINK and with high heels and feathers and guff. Arrgh, all so sickly sweet!
For crying out loud! I've never worn a pair of high heels in my life, and I've certainly never...
When mum died I felt a hand on me so strong that I felt my husband had come into the bedroom where I was sobbing my heart out - strong enough to stop me, raise my head - but all I could hear was my father crying too in the other bedroom.
Mum always loved Malta - my daughter was born there - so I took her for a girls holiday, just the two of us..... or so I thought. We were eating a rabbit dish - I was thinking 'I wonder what Mum would say if she was here now' - my daughter immediately after...
I made a start on my ball gown yesterday............using a old simplicity dress pattern I had from school...I rarely throw anything to do with sewing away..I'm the proud owner of the family 'button tin'..and always put in those buttons you get dangling from you new blouses....
I'm a haberdashery addict....saving the ribbon you get wrapped around tea towels...and the little bits that come with other gifts.....you never know, they may come in useful....
I've missed going round the...
