    stoma reversal

I am currently waiting to receive a date for surgery to reverse the stoma I have had since surgery in Septmeber 2012.  I am very frustrated as I had a phone call 2 weeks ago to tell me I am on the shortlist for surgery.  Foolishly I thought this meant it might be soon - I rang today to see if there was news as I fancy a few days away to be told - oh, I haven't put you on the list yet, May is already full so it will be at least June - I feel gutted.  I can't wait to be rid of this stoma - it seems...

  • My chemotherapy journey
    Back to Battan
    Hi folks

Just getting ready to head to the hospital for pre chemo bloods. I have kept away from things over the weekend, and, tried not to think About it. Have to say I'm a bit apprehensive going into this weeks chemo, which will be on Wednesday barring any issues with the bloods today. It's sort of knowing the horrible nausea that I had the last time. My anti emetic drugs have been changed for this one so here's hoping these ones work.

    Take care all

  • After he has gone.......
    Sunday!
Worst day of the week by a mile now is Sunday. Families everywhere especially when we get a bit of sun, couples strolling holding hands....makes me want to scream sometimes! Saw a friend yesterday who spent some considerable time moaning about her partner and how much he didn't do around the house.....if only that was all I had to worry about. I did tell her to count her blessings, stop arguing and get on with living as you never know how long you have left. I am so glad Doug and I didnt really...

  • Living with incurable cancer
    Quick Update 27th May

Had 12 of 20 radiotherapies and aside from bleeding from my bladder, diaoriah (sp), fatigue and nausea I feel good! :D I have controlled most of the side effects with tablets.

I wish my partner and  I had more friends and family nearby, it does feel as though most of the time we are in this alone, but its hard to make new friends at 50 and when you are ill 50% of the week.  I am praying (don't know who to!) that when I get on my new tablets we can start having a bit of normal life again, and maybe...

7 days for Dad, 7 weeks for Doug
Stuck in the middle of funeral arrangements for Dad! This is so painful as mom is not coping at all and is trying to have the same arrangements I did for Doug. I keep explaining to her that Dad and Doug were totally different and slowly she is thinking about music, poems etc.....this hurts a lot as losing two people I adore in 6 weeks is too much. My doctor has signed me off sick for three weeks but really how am I supposed to survive on thin air? I have been to work for 10 hours after drs orders...

    dads gullet cancer

  • Vulva Cancer Melanoma- my story so far
    The afterwards continues

I suppose it's all over  though I'm still a bit concerned.  The scarring has a small area of lumpy swelling which I hope isn't any kind of infection, but I'm keeping an eye on it as much as I can trying to look at bits of me that are are hard to see!

I'll be off-forum for a while as I have a (non-cancer) op next week; if nothing else the nurses should spot anything unusual since general anaesthetic ops seem to come with a free catheter.  Ho hum, at least it's only one lot of worries...

    Plastic

So the 3rd round is on it's way and we survived the weekend. He's not been taking the multi-vitamin (because of folic acid) and his 'tingling' fingers and feet have been less severe than previous. Is there a vitamin on the market that doesn't contain the stuff? Might have to ask at the welly boot shop.

Eating is still an effort but weight is being maintained. Scrambled egg with some tinned spaghetti was last nights choice. A Calshake a day is doing no harm. Seems that the steroid...

    Long time no blog....

Wow, it's been over a month since I last blogged. So what's happened since mum came home?

She lost a lot of muscle in her lower body so she's starting walking to try and rebuild her glutes/calves/quads etc. She's up to the "2 lake" walk with the dog now which is pretty impressive considering she could barely get up the stairs a month ago.

Mum decided to throw herself into things when she got home. I think it has been a "getting control back" exercise after what she's been...
