Unsure how to get started? Take a look at our help pages on blogs.
After our first oncologist who suggested no treatment, we found another who was the opposite to the first. She wanted to start my mum immediately on a bone strengthening treatment & also start on chemotherapy. She had a much more positive attitude towards us which helped us so much.
My mums first chemo was an event to be witnessed, "I want you to take a picture of me every time I come for treatment!". We went to the ward for her treatment, it took about 2 hours, we chatted about everything...
My mum was diagnosed in Sept last year as having breast cancer, early stages. She had a lumpectomy & that was that, breast cancer beat. (Take that ya bum!)
We breathed a sigh of relief. The cancer gods laughed! We're not finished with you yet said they! She had had an annoying cough for ages, totally unrelated, asthama had been the diagnosis. But it had gotten worse recently, off they sent her for a chest xray. And of course it came back abnormal, she was then sent for a whole host of...
This is a MINEFIELD for me in a state of full health let alone with cancer but I feel it is something worth talking about. Even if it just allows people to point out my flawed logic!!
As a single 38 year old, I really don’t embrace the prospect of fighting this disease on my own. I’ve always prided myself on being independent, not needing anyone - and thank goodness I am really, given my disappointing relationship history!
My first relationship lasted about 12 years - I thought it was...
Thursday 29th December.
It's been a strange couple of days. I woke up yesterday and thought I still had hair, it felt lovely for a few seconds and then I felt my head...Yesterday the weather was glorious so my husband decided it would be good to go to the beach and meet up with our friends and have lunch in the pub there. To be honest I really wasn't that bothered about going I felt a bit weary but I want him to have some normality so we set off with the dogs.
Our friends knew that...
Well I'm still here and reading through my earlier blogs I have now realised that I got myself over worked up .
I am due to have my 3rd chemo of 6 on the 4th Jan I'm amazed I am already on number 3 times gone so fast and to be honest it hasn't been half as bad as I thought it was going to be .
First chemo was a nightmare due to having roid rage and wanting to kill people and fight my hubby ha ha bless him I don't think that's something he will ever forget and when he tells people they...
Have stupidly left this to after I started round 2 so need to put myself back into “Recovery Zone” mode…where I was very positive and happily thinking, “This isn’t so bad, I’m one of the lucky ones, if it’s like this the whole way through I will be fine!”
Perhaps it is like giving birth where you seem to forget about how traumatic it all is fairly quickly!
But actually, thinking back, round 1 really wasn’t anywhere near as bad as I thought it would...

Ok, I'm going to be brutally honest about Christmas this year because I would dearly like to be able to look back next year and realise how far things have come. It's so easy to say that Christmas was lovely to everyone who asks, and it truly was, but there were a lot of other things going on in my head while the 'lovely' was going on, things that I kept to myself, it was very difficult and I'm trying to be honest in this blog. So I'll start from Saturday, and Saturday...
So two days later. Christmas done, emotions dealt recycling bins filled.
What's left I find myself thinking?

Treatment in a bit of limbo at the moment. However someone must be planning something as they called and a sled me in for a scan next week. So guessing oncologist will want to see Mr the following...
Well scan results followed by a biopsy confirmed recurrence stage ii Hodgkin's.
I have started my treatment GDP (gemcitrabine, dexamethasone, cisplatin). It all started a bit hectic tests to see if my body still worked normally kidneys, lungs, heart.
Insertion of a Hickman line, which they make sound so simple, local anaesthetic and then you are hidden whilst people talk about what they are doing, just making a small cut in your neck, now threading the wire down your vein, once all...
Decided it was best to remove this blog
