I’m messing up the space-time continuum of my blog to jump ahead to the previous couple of weeks instead of sticking to the current linear pattern of my posts. I am aware that I haven’t written in a while and the main reason is that very thing Rihanna sings about: –
No. This is not an error. Yes. This is the version I wish you to see. Go forth and Elmo.
I’ve been back in the office I work in for what seems like forever but I think is only just a month. The universe seems to have...
You might laugh, but it's true! I think the radiation has indeed mutated me - finally - but stillno signs of super powers, unless they've yet to develop.
So, I used to always be too hot. It didn't matter what the weather was doing, or where I was, I was always toasty warm. Snowing? Perfect temp for walking around in a short sleeved top. I even went to the ice bar in Oslo a few years ago, and was too warm and needed to remove the coat thing they have you put on. My worst nightmare was a...
Hi All,
I am at work this morning before going off for an ECG (pre-chemo) this afternoon and in the midst of all the chaos, I received the call giving me the date of my first chemo - it's Tuesday 30th May.
I had this sudden need to cry once I'd put down the phone and I want to dash off for a weekend in France for the Bank Holiday - one last hurrah! perhaps before life changes for a while. We have a friend's 50th to attend on the Saturday evening but I really don't feel in party mode....
Not sure what the date is and what difference does it really make anyway?
So continuing with the theme of being honest, today has been much like yesterday as far as scores on the happiness scale goes.
A big fat zero.
I got up this morning after falling down the stairs in the night at my daughters ( didn't put the light on because I didn't want to wake anyone up) and my toe was all bruised and swollen, I couldn't walk on it so I put ice on it and hoped it'd get better. Fat chance of...
Tuesday 16th May 2017.
What a horrible horrible day. I'm going to write exactly how I feel right now....I feel totally let down, I feel like I can't trust anybody. That's how I feel.
Today I had an appointment at the hospital, I thought it would be about my up and coming radiotherapy, the planning and arrangements for that. How wrong was I...
I did think it strange that I had two appointments come through and this one wasn't for the hospital where the radiotherapy will...
Sod's Law! Made plans to go and sit in a garden on Friday and it was overcast and drizzling. Then Saturday and Sunday? Bright glorious sunshine.
I still went though, and took Stinkbug with me. He absolutely loved it! Had his little purple jacket on, attached the lead to it, and then pottered around for about an hour and a half. I live in a terraced street with very small gardens at only one side of the street. So the only wildlife he gets to see are a few starlings, a few pigeons, a couple of...
This week’s blog post is going to be brief as what I am writing about was a very brief encounter.

Oh, good grief Charlie Brown! No! Not that type of brief encounter.
Two weeks after diagnosis I met the consultant who was going to be my consultant and who got to have the immense privilege of being the one that removed bits out of me.
At this point I had been bounced between two hospitals like a tennis ball – Frimley Park Hospital and Royal Surrey County Hospital. At Frimley I had my colposcopy...
“Gosh, you know, I would just LOVE to stay completely motionless for twenty to thirty minutes whilst being held inside a long, noisy tube as it scans for me the spread of the cancer I have just been diagnosed with. Even better if I get to do it twice in one week!”
Said absolutely no one in the history of humankind, EVER.
Welcome to Diagnostic Imaging week!
Four days after my diagnosis I received a call from my Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to explain that I would be booked in for the...
This week’s blog post is not going to have the lengthy title as promised two weeks ago but instead I’m going to simply call it ‘What Immediately Follows After Diagnosis.’ Although that is a pretty darn extensive topic I’ve broken it down into two (summarised) components: –
This may not have a lengthy title but it is a wordy...
Interrupting my regular scheduled blog post with a… well, a regular scheduled blog post. The next post I do will be entitled ‘How to Tell Friends and Family that You Have Cancer Whilst Making It Sound Like You Have Nothing More than a Common Cold so that You Keep Their Spirits Up While Somehow Simultaneously Convincing Yourself that You Have Cured Your Cancer via the Power of Positive Thinking Because the Brain Gets Weird When it’s in Denial.’
This week’s post is more simply...
