I don't have time to be ill.  Have then had three days now of feeling slightly better each day.  First day felt like run over by a bus, and today not so sore...

    Life looks rosier

After a long chat to one of the Macmillan nurses today, he was able to clear my mind on several worries which I had, so I now feel life is really looking up.

Thanks you Macmillian for the support.

    Diet

Sorry to have caused any confusion or anxiety in my last post.To try to clarify, I have a relatively rare form of BC which is hormone negative and HER2+ which means it can't be treated with hormones but only with herceptin. Most people CAN be treated with hormones which is good.

It is my consultant who keeps on harping on about diet.To be fair he doesn't say vegan but he does say limit dairy ALOT and NO red meat and lots of garlic, onions(shallots, leeks etc),broccolli.I have also heard that raspberries...

    Saving Rusty

Rusty is an old VW kombi with serious skin cancer.  We want to save him to help him save other cancer patients across South Africa.

Rusty is very old, but before he can retire for good, he wants to do a good deed by travelling all the way from South Africa overland to Europe.

    Groshong times...

Hi, well started a new chapter in my trreatment now in a way - treatment through the Groshong line.  I had it put in yesterday.  The procedure took about an hour (as nice young hunky doctor said, they take their time with these things...) and there was a fair amount of pushing and tugging to get it into the right position.  I'd say it doesn't hurt as such (mainly due to the local anaesthetic) but you feel lots of pressure on your neck and chest as they tug away - it doesn't last long and my nurses and...

    Fantastic Care!

I knew fantastic care was possible! Yesterday i had some more tissue removed from breast to obtain clear margins and i had it done in one of the trusts other hospitals and the differance was amazing!

I had my 1st op in Dewsbury DH (not good) and yesterday i was in Pontefract GI (excellent).

They could not have done more for me, nothing was too much trouble or treated like an inconveniance and was asked over and over if i was feeling ok.

Its makes all the differance to have good care and gives...

How do I tell my family

Hello, I am looking for some advice - how do I tell my grown up children, sister and friends I have cancer - what are the kindest words ?  I have been diagnosed for 2 months now and have had a total hysterectomy and will soon be having chemo.  My husband knows of course and has been wonderful but like most men "doesn't speak about it" although he has been very helpful and supportive.   I thought of say something like " I am ill at the moment but in 5 years I aim to be a cancer survivor...

    Jimbo34 Update

We are still in touch with Jim, although its not as often as we'd like, so the information is a bit disjointed.

Anyway, since Jim's protracted stay in hospital after surgery things haven't been too good for him.  He's still fighting but it seems he's having a tough time of things with some infections.  Understandably he's a bit down about it and it seems to us, from the information we have, that Jim is not getting the medical support he warrants.

    The latest information is that...
