    shattered life

What happens in life , that makes it so hard

what turned me from bright , into  being  retard

when I were young , I  ruled all my life

looking for fun, love, banter  , a good  wife

I got all these things , probably more than my share

I had love, laugher, money, well , enough not to care

Then one day , a doctors appointment,

perhaps a pill ,tablet .potion or ointment

no ,said the doctor , there is no answer,

I sorry to say , that you have cancer

    Part 2 of frustrating days....

Or should I say a frustrating week -

Today I got up to find that the food in the freezer was half de-frosted - probably because the plug was hanging half out of the socket because I must have caught it with the ironing board yesterday!

Then I turned on my mobile to receive a message from my mum that my 21yr old niece had been rushed into hospital last night with suspected appendicitis. My niece is graduating from York University next week & is supposed to be going on holiday to Turkey with her...

    Back on the up

Tuesday was rather emotional (ie tearful) after seeing the consultant. She was great but it is not easy to hear what lies ahead.

Anyway, I've not been dwelling on it and I just wanted to reassure friends and family that I'm doing fine at the moment thanks! And thanks too for continuing messages of support - including those from people I don't know except by nickname on this site. xxx

No news on when the next appointment is...

5 weeks post-op and still getting used to things :(

It's been so lovely, hot and sunny and fine to sit in the garden wearing my vesty top not worrying that I've only got one boob. When it came time to get changed to go out I caught a glimpse in the mirror and in a surreal moment couldn't work out what was wrong. Then it dawned on me and suddenly no clothes looked or felt right and knowing I was going to be out til late evening, i burst into tears.

I went to help my daughter get ready for her prom night , once I saw her all dressed up I...

    cervical cancer that has spread

Hiya guys,  I was wondering if you could give me some advice. Back in Dec 09 my mum was told she had cervical cancer stage 4 IVA, so at this point not terminal.  She had radio therepy and was told a lot had gone and they felt confident she would be in remission within 6 months.  The docs were happy to leave mum for a 8 weeks for the radio therepy to continue working and when she went back for a checkup they told her it was terminal.  Its hard to explain exactly where the cancer now is but the doctor...

    A fortnight of....

    ……fun and frolics!

OK, who forgot to pack the fun and frolics? I can do the odd funless day with no frolics but not two weeks worth thank you very much!

It all started (surprisingly enough) about two weeks ago. After a chat with Dr Socks we all agreed that the Red Devils needed to be sacked as they appear to have done what little good they are capable of. Next question, what to replace them with. The pin the tail on the donkey game came down with the tail pinned in Taxotere...

Having one of those frustrating days.....

In the grand scheme of things it was nothing, but when hot, tired and busy it was becoming the straw that broke the camel's back!

Yesterday morning I awoke to find that the insect bite on my arm, received whilst doing the Race, looked like a large archery board regardless of the antibiotic cream I had been using. So it was a trip to the docs morning surgery (no appointment necessary) where I had to sit with the great unwashed for almost 2 hours.

After receiving my oral antibiotics I went...

    Surviving

How do you answer the question "How are you today?" when things have gotten so far from normal. Do you just simple smile and say ok, when deep down you are far from being ok. Or not too bad, is that more appropriate. Seems like these words and phrases are made for when life is peaches and roses, and when your worries are what your going to have for dinner and is your washing going to dry in time, or that your feet or a little sore because you have been rushing around all day.Yet now the standard...
