So here's the full low-down on my day in hospital. It's a bit endless, but it's meant to give those who come after the full monte - I'm not forcing you to read it, lol.
I wasn't particularly nervous about going in - I was just so desperate to get the procedure done, I seemed to have been waiting for ever, and I felt, rightly or wrongly, that the delays might be exposing me to unnecessary risks. Also I became paranoid that I would get some cold or flu that...
I was disappointed to receive a phone call from the chemo clinic yesterday, cancelling my chemo session today due to very low neutrophils. They were supposed to ring today with a new appointment for next week but no word yet. I know this is a common reason why treatment is delayed but it was the last chemo in cycle 2 and it was supposed to be done and dusted with a break to look forward to next week and then a consultant appointment and on with cycle 3. I think when you look at your chemo schedule...
I have good news for a change
My youngest sons girlfriend is 3 months pregnant and we are over the moon about it
It seems like years since we have had something great to look forward to
its a little bit of Paul living on isnt it ?
cant wait
fingers crossed all goes well
love Sue
I'm very glad to be more than half way through (this phase of) treatment now. Getting some side effects, but finding the medication (for anti-nausea and anti-diarrhoea) works. I guess I'll be getting more sore and more tired as time goes on but afternoon kips help. (No daytime sleep today though and S got me up at half six this morning.... amazing I'm awake to type now really).
I am still managing to get some work done - and happy to be doing it too. I'd rather stay involved doing something...

Hello,
My name is Yilmaz and I am a carer for my mum. She has a history of a cancer: breast, bone, liver, but bravely fought through it. This year, she started getting headaches. A scan revealed that she had several brain mets. After a course of radiotherapy, the medics decided that there was no more they could do for her.
My mum's mobility is virtually non-existent. She cannot walk or make many movements with her body. She speaks with difficulty and struggles to speak coherently.
I came...
Had my appointment for my reversal . I saw a new ( to me) consultant. He was lovely . He explained everything to me so as I could understand. Retired nurse or not I am the patient now and we nurses don't know everything.
I got to know the truth of why my cancer was never discovered. I never did have a Colonoscopy, it was just a Sigmoidoscopy. Its no wonder they never found it they never went up far enough.
So before my op I am to have a Colonoscopy just to check the bowel.
I could have the...
We'd actually been intending to start a family this year and in our ideal world I would have been about 2-3 months pregnant when we got married in April. Just was well I wasn't with the discovery of the breast cancer in Februrary! Anyhow, this meant that retaining fertility throughout my treatment was a consideration hence my BCN arranging an appointment for me to meet with a 'consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist'.
Unfortunately my fiance couldn't attend the fertility discussion...
On D-Day my breast care nurse (BCN) suggested that I e-mail her a list of questions over the weekend so that we could go through those and information about the upcoming surgery at our next appointment which she scheduled for 6th April 2010.
So back to the specialist centre I went, once again with my fiance who wants to be part of everything at the moment (for which I am very grateful) :) My list was rather long (see below) and as it turns out actually covered off much of the stuff she wanted...
….I ran away! I’ve developed a real dislike for hospitals. I can do the out-patient stuff no problem, lots of people to chat to and generally people who are either only a little bit poorly or dealing with their poorliness quite well. It’s the in-patient stuff that makes the hairs (the sparse few) on the back of my neck stand on end. Until this cancer malarky I hadn’t had much experiences of hospitals except that Master Bad Fairy was born in hospital. Such a delightful experience...
