Hi everyone. My name is Ian. I have undergone surgery and Radiotherapy to remove 2 Cancerous lumps from my mouth. I received the news from my Consultant last week that the MRI scan has shown no signs of Cancer. I'm fully aware that this is remission, not a cure, but I'm obviously relieved.
However, it's been a long scary journey. But there have been many laughs along the way. Yes, it doesn't always have to be despair and sadness. I've met some amazing people along the way. I've also learned a lot about myself and discovered that although I'm 60, I am actually work in progress.
I have tried to make the blog witty. I am not trying to trivialize the disease. Quite the opposite. I think we use humour as defence mechanism when we are scared, but there's not doubt laughing (or when you read my blog, slightly smiling) help both physically and mentally.
My Blog is not complete, I have only written up until my time in Post Operation Special Care. The real story has only just begun. I hope my blog helps some of you and for those in the early stages of Cancer, allays some of your fears. It's called Horty's Blog it's now available under "Blogs" and from all good bookshops.

Hi Trevor. Thanks for your kind comments. My wife calls my writing ..shining wit.....at least I think that's whats she called it..I'm just trying to make people who are yet to, or going through this process, that every day need not be despair. I didn't go round the hospital bounding with joy. Most of the time I just lay there with my own thoughts....It wouldn't be much of a blog if I wrote.." I feel down, I'm in pain and I'm lying in bed...the end. Thats what it felt like, but I'm picking the "best bits"
Once again, thanks.
Ian...Rossi is just my user name.
