Hi, I posted a while ago asking about the side effects of RT and I recieved a lot of support from people on the forums for which I'm very gratful.

I thought it would be useful to go through my journey through radiotherapy

I started a 6 weeks radical course of RT on 26th January, the first week as a doddle and I had next to no side effects, towards the end of the second week I started to get a dry mouth and some soreness in my throat, by the end of the 3rd week I needed the NG tube as I could no longer swallow food, they inserted the tube via my left nostil which was to say the least a little uncomfortable but as my weight was dropping it was for the best, weeks 4-6 were a bit of a blur as I slept a lot due to the regular intake of Morphine.

I stuck rigidly to the dieticans instructions and applied the cream to my neck twice daily during the 6 weeks, this has paid dividends as I have no scarring on my neck and it actually feels as smooth as when I was a child!!!

The first 2 weeks post RT went well and I started to feel better towards the end of the 2nd week, at the start of week 3 I was managing a little food and by the end of the week I pulled out the NG tube which I will say was disgusting after 6 weeks in my stomach!!.

I'm now 4 weeks post treatment and eating normally and sleeping normally, I realise that everyone is different but I just wanted to share my experience.

Cheers

Martyn

Thank you for sharing. It’s good to see a balance of different experiences! We are 2 weeks in so this is super useful to see.

Hope your recovery continues at this pace
