Hi everyone,

Woke up with a new feeling at back of throat ,it feels tight like a tiny cramp on side I had most treatment , not sore but it's hard to explain .I thought it would wear off but seems as though it's staying ,haven't had any food that would upset it. Swallow is ok ,but can just feel the tightness when I do swallow .Any ideas or anyone had the same 15 months after treatment? T

hanks Mark

  • I’ve had glitches ever since treatment end, even now. Three week rule has always served me very well.

  • Hi Dani ,yeh just another thing to crop up ,I'll see how it goes x

  • Yes try not to read too much into it. We have such a heightened awareness of every bodily function after being diagnosed. I seem to lurch from event to event these days with long periods of inactivity lulling me into a false sense of security. It’s pants! But we get by. Hugs.

  • Yes exactly that ! I try my best not to dwell on it !

  • Hi Mark, I had lots of things going on in my throat for a good long time after treatment. it does get less as time goes by, even now over 8 years post treatment I still get issues that worry me, from time to time. Radio Therapy it's the gift that just keeps giving. If it doesn't get any better in a couple of weeks, give your team a call.

  • Fibrosis can cause ongoing issues, RFS...Radiation Fibrosis Syndrome...the symptoms can vary from patient to patient...nearly three years since finishing CRT and I get some stiffness and reduced movement in one side of my neck...oncology are aware of this issue and are quite unconcerned...happy with my progress in general.

  • Thanks Ray ,you obviously know what it's like when a new problem comes along!

  • Thanks Micheal, did your fibrosis affect the back of your throat as well as the neck ? I do get a stiff neck also

  • Yes...scarring can occur in the throat tissue...we did take quite a bit of punishment...I still carry a Difflam throat spray...occasional use.

  • Hi Mark has the others  have said the 3 week rule is a good one to go by. I get plagued with U.K. eats from time to time invariably by the end if 3 weeks they’ve gone the latest one was in my lower lip even I little miss nothing goes wrong was thinking  about getting in touch when miraculously day 18 I woke up and it had gone. Radiation fibrosis is common for many of us I have a tiny bit on heavily radiated side manageable,

Like Ray day radiotherapy the gift that keeps on giving)ng. Saying that I’ve just biked 50 km over in Spain leg power not electric so must be doing something right.
