Does sunbathing come with extra risks after radiotherapy or is it just that areas where the radiotherapy was targeted are extra sensitive? In other words can I tan my legs and body while taking extra precautions for neck area? Thanks.

Yes
Factor 50 on your face and neck.If you’re actually in the sun to get a tan I would add a wide brimmed hat and a buff round your neck.
Not only are the areas the RT hit more sensitive but your risk of skin cancer is much higher.

Hi I spend around 5 months a year in Spain factor 50 everyday on face and neck even at home I do the same if I’m out in garden as well when in uk.
In Spain I also do factor 50 on rest of body. At home I use factor 30 on legs and arms I use which ever supermarket is cheapest ni need ti spend a fortune. Often boots have 2 for 1 offers.
too I also use uvustst factor 50 lik hall as I find loos are dry and I bike a lot so they could burn.
I wear a hat as well if our snd about in Spain a wide brim one when walking if reading tend to be in shade. I don’t our and sunbath but I never have done as I’m light skinned and freckles.
one life life it.

Thanks Hazel. Our home from Home is Portugal. I will be vigilant.
Are we at a higher risk for any other cancers?
Unfortunately yes. We run a higher risk than the rest of the population of another oropharyngeal cancer, due both to a possible persistence of HPV and the effects of the radiation. I’ve never let it concern me but I do eschew neat spirit and alcohol mouthwash. Life is too short to worry about it
