Hi there , it seemed I was misdiagnosed with Lymphoma . After ten 10 I was then diagnosed with CLL. People have been congratulating me for having Leukaemia? Should I be angry and the misdiagnosis?
The words used can be confusing..
A lymphoma can be also be called a Non-Hodgkin lymphoma and these are conventionally broken down into two main groups based on the type of cell from which tumour cells originate; thus CLL or Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia is also classified as a B-cell lymphoma.
Confused..?? Yes we all are, and frankly the actual words are not that important once you get a definite name on the actual variety of blood cancer that you have.
You say that you have CLL, or Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia which is often a very slow developing disease. I myself was diagnosed back in 2005, still cycle and go hiking regularly, and have had NO treatments.. But we are all different and you will need regular blood tests to find out the severity of your disease.
For more information I would suggest to join a group that is specific to CLL, such as the CLL Support Association. Or join the CLL group on HealthUnlocked where you will find lots of information.
The CLL Support Association has meetings and there are video lectures from the specialist doctors on their website. Use Google search to locate the CLL Support Association or HealthUnlocked.
I hope your CLL is benign, as many patients often find.
Good Luck
