I'm due to see the oncologist regarding radiotherapy on Wednesday and have a tattoo on Thursday next week. I've had a lumpectomy and then a further WLE for dcis to achieve clear margins. My oncology surgeon didn't know whether I would be having the 15 session or intensive 5 sessions of radiotherapy. Does anyone know when these two methods are used please?
Hi
Many centres are now using the 5 fraction regime for early breast cancer as the norm after the results of the 5 year trial were published in April 2020.
The 5 fraction regime has been found to be equally effective as the 15 fraction regime.
If you want to read more about it you can look for Fast Forward radiotherapy.
Best wishes
Hi Exray girl, you hit the nail on the head, big and floppy .I had a lumpectomy but still have a lot of area still there.
Maybe that’s the problem, let’s hope it be sorted tomorrow. Thanks for your interest, you have reassured me a lot.
I normally take things in my stride, ops, chemo but this has proved the most difficult.
