Hi
You are getting technical now!
In whole breast radiotherapy the machine is angled to skim across the chest wall from two different directions. Radiation is absorbed by tissue as it passes through and so you are treated from two directions to get an even dose in the middle. The beam from the lateral side will have lost all its energy by the time it reaches the nodes.
When the nodes are treated they are treated using a beam pointing direct download in order to achieve an even dose.
Hope this helps

Thank you yes that's really helpful ( and very interesting - I love this level of detail ) Such a precise intervention

You’re welcome
I’m sure it will start to make sense when you start treatment. Keep us posted with how you are getting on x
Good luck tomorrow & thanks for asking the technical questions. I've just had session 4 today & I said I would love to watch it from their side to see how it all works & get a better explanation.
Oh & I'm very envious you’re having the 5 days - I've still got 16 to go. This time next week you'll be done
Thank you and yes I will be finished almost as soon as I start which is an odd feeling to be honest. My end of treatment review is on 7th March and I only had surgery on 7th December. My head is still spinning !
Yes I love a bit of technical detail ..it helps me understand what is happening and it is very impressive how detailed the planning is. We are lucky to have Exraygirl who can give that detail fir those of us who want it !
