  • That’s great news that you can now take your time and see how you feel without pressure.  XxHeart️

  • Sorry to hear that your radiotherapy has been delayed. It’s perfectly understandable that you are disappointed. I know what that feels like as it happed to me as well.

Best of luck with it and hopefully it won’t be delayed too long.

  • Hi - just a quick question about when to apply cream?  I was told it was OK if it was at least 2 hours before treatment, but I've since read many people are advised to have totally clean skin for treatment & apply cream straight afterwards.

    Any advice please?  Thanks

  • Hi

I have always told patients not within two hours of treatment just so that it soaks into the skin. Also it’s easier for the rads to position you if you aren’t greasy!!
Do whatever you prefer but definitely moisturise afterwards and dink lots of fluids

  • Thanks for the reply. I've decided to shower prior to sessions this week & moisturise when I get home.

I've generally been a bit itchy on other parts of my body & had a rash on my arms last night so I'm wondering if that's a side effect of Tamoxifen.  Spoken to BC nurse today to ask if I can stop it while I have rest of my sessions and restart when I'm done (I've only started them about 3 weeks ago but most people seem to be advised to wait until after rads).  She's going to check with oncologist but thinks it will be fine.

    Day 3 today.....

  • Hi ladies

Had my new patient TC with the radiologist today and we are go for a start tomorrow for my 5 sessions so only a 48hr delay thankfully. The person that phoned is the radiologist that will be treating me which is nice as I shall meet her tomorrow

I'm curious though. In whole breast RT does anyone know whether the internal mammary nodes are routinely irradiated as part of the RT treatment ? My sentinel node biopsy was clear so I'm not having RT on those nodes

Thanks for your support as always xx

  • That’s fabulous news that you are going to start tomorrow Raised handsRaised handsxxHeart️

  • Hi

No the internal mammary chain is not included in whole breast radiotherapy. If nodal areas need treatment they are planned as separate areas.

    Good luck tomorrow  x

  • That's great that you are starting your radiotherapy tomorrow.

    Best of luck with it.

  • Thank you ..I thought that would be the case  but was curious how they were avoided given the whole breast is being treated!
