    schrodinger's cat

Schrodingers cat seems to come up alot these days , mainly recently on the tv comedy serires the big bang theory,

i feel alot like that cat, i can be consiserered both terminal and curable untill the scan results are examined, two weeks ago i thought i had fallen into the curable opinion when my consultant informed me that i just had one tumor in my right lung which in his opinion could be surgically removed, what i didnt relise is that its the surgeon who decides whether surgery is a curative option...

    Hospice doctor to the rescue

I’ve had a week or so to absorb the new reality of not looking forward to any more treatment.  Actually, it’s a relief.  We have been able to book an exciting summer holiday, accept invitations to visit friends and plan some weekends away.  Of course, this is all predicated on my being well enough at the time, and that isn’t always the case.  For example, this week I’ve had at least three really c**p days, but today I woke up feeling almost like a normal person.  This may be due...

Limbo - Of the less flexible kind

I'd hate for this space to become nothing more than a place for me to moan but to be truthful we all need somewhere to go, scream and then shut the door like that noise never came out. I've been really stressed over the last week and though I'm aware of this, I know how I respond when stressed and I know how to combat it the progress in that area is a little slower than I'd like. I actually resorted to walking out of a room and screaming F*******************K before calmly returning and getting back...

    Tarceva

Hi Everyone,  We read so many negatives I wanted to share a positive.  I have had Lung cancer diagnosed September 13.  Prognosis February 15 plus or minus?.

I had the usual plat chemo, two lots followed by 30 days radiation and was advised things were deteriating , and ended up hospitalised with pneumonia and collapsed lung.  Things were looking grim when the Oncologist said he was really pleased, they had found the genetic make up of my cancer suited treatment with Tarceva.  He was very positive however...

    Waiting game and fantasies

Well its been over two week since i was given hope again that i can achieve an NED status, but this time unlike other times i have heard no word from the surgeon, which in my past experiance is very rare and a tad concerning, as usually i would of had an outpatient appointment, discussec the op and set a date, not this time.

does this mean that its been decidec that its not worth operating on ky tiny tumor?,

in the last three years since diagnosis time has frozen for my wife and I while the world...

  • My journey with bile duct cancer while also being a 24/7 carer
    My journey begins

My parkinsons aside, I became aware something was not right early in 2004 because eI was losing interest and becoming generally apathetic about life in general even walking arounf car boot sales which I normally love doing.

Of course I was blaming my parkinsons unaware something darker was going on. I felt that everything ws an effort even caring for my daughter and looking back on it people noticed that my housekeeping was slipping and I was becoming more isolated.

When I started turning a shade...

  • Whims and Wishes
    Memories...

January 18th, it is ten years since I went in to hospital...

    I remember the white,

    Crisp snow,

    Starched sheet,

    The dark of the night,

    Defeat...

    The bare all,

    The recall,

    The hair fall,

    (The long hall)

    The pain sharp yet bright,

    Spilled drinks,

    Silk pyjamas,

    The bandages tight,

    And going bananas...

    Isolation,

    Creation,

    Mutation,

    Foundation.

The treatment weeks were like a black hole I fell deeper and deeper in to.  The day I had my first operation it snowed and then the lump...

  • Living with disabilities caused by tumours - my fight for rights
Disability stigma - I don't even get a Christmas break from it!

Thanks for reading my 1st post as I begin fighting for proper consequences for disability-related discrimination!

I'd like my blog and my campaign that it's linked to to expose what has been, for me, the most horrible thing of my tumour-experience - the way I am often treated now my tumours have made me "dis-abled" - what a lovely word!

I now work as a freelance musician which I really enjoy but which can be exhausting, particularly with the enormous fatigue which has affected...

  • TC - more of a commute than a journey
Easier to ignore than to confront

"Sorry, but this is probably a sentence no Doctor wants to hear.  I think there is something wrong with one of my testicles".

With this jovial utterance my typical testicular cancer (TC) story begins.

I entered the doctor's room already convinced I had TC, though he kindly explained that there were many reasons for lumps and bumps on testicles; but his reassuring words were less forthcoming after the physical examination itself.  Off to hospital I would go.  An emergency urology appointment...

    Major whinge, being toyed with

Well after last weeks joy of finding out that my germ cell cancer hd a chance to be cured, ok a slim one with with surgery to my lungs, but still a chance

Now usually when the royal marsden refer me to the brompton in the chance of a cure they are quick and swift, this time no news apart from a reply from my surgeons secretary that they recieved the letter and had ask for images, which is the usual polite way of saying we cant help you

as usual my clinical nurse is away from the trust and as usual...
