Boyfriend has three months to live

    Hi everyone,

I just want to reach out to other people who may be experiencing the same or a similar situation as me. I feel so alone and scared! My boyfriend started having stomach pains a few months back and it got to the point where I had to call an ambulance as he was bent over sat on the edge of the bed. After about a month of scary scans we went to see his oncologist to discover he has stomach cancer that has spread to two other places. It is inoperable and they said he has approximately 4 months...

Cancer in a time of Covid
So like so many people up and down the country our plans for Christmas were changed. We were out into tier 4 so no more parents on Christmas Day.  But for my cancer journey the bigger impact is that I got a call on Boxing Day to let me know that...

Meet Amy, Part 2: Introducing Stoic Philosophy

Wintery scene with some frosted berries hanging off a tree.

In a recent Community News Blog we met our new guest blogger Amy, who struggled with her emotions after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Amy has since used this experience to write a blog to help others manage their mental health through cancer and is keen to share some of the resources which helped her. If you missed the first part of the blog, ‘Meet Amy – Finding a way to move towards acceptance and peace’, you can find it by clicking here.

Ending 2020 with a cancer diagnosis

Well, as if a year of a terrifying, world changing, pandemic was not enough to deal with! After a few bloody stools and a visit to my local surgery in London, my entire world began to tilt upside down, in a rather nightmarish way. Follow up colonoscopy (simple enough with fantastic smiling NHS staff), a CT scan was requested and carried out. All of this done within the space of 4 weeks. Considering what is currently going on with rising cases and Tier 4 in London, I remain grateful. And I try to...

Spending Christmas without a loved one

Spending Christmas without a loved one written in white over a picture of a snowflake

At a time of year where we want to rejoice with our loved ones, sadly there are many different reasons why this may not be possible.

This may be your first Christmas without a friend or family member, and there may be additional restrictions in place which means this festive period will be very different for you. However you are spending Christmas this year, we hope you can still find some peaceful moments.

“This Christmas is going to be a very different one, so don't even try and compare it to...
