Chemo Fifth Cycle, Week Two: Desdemona's On My Mind
As far as side-effects go, week two has been quite straight forward. The anaemia is something to keep in check – I still struggle with estimating how much I can do before the inevitable breathless ‘wall’ hits me and I have to lie do...

    Chapter 26 — Don't Poke the Bear
I'll be honest — I've been avoiding writing this one. Not because there's bad news. Quite the opposite. I've been superstitiously, irrationally terrified of jinxing it. Because as of today, the 20th of August, I have been out of...

Post 488: A little rain and don’t we need it. During the night I heard the rain. That’s a noise we haven’t heard for quite some time but I didn’t see it so does it count? Ha ha. But now the leaves will fall all the more and t...

    Time for the next chapter
Since Monday 17 August, my journey is going to change. I was told that my current treatment is no longer effective and that the cancer has spread further in my spine. After 18 or 19 cycles of treatment, hearing those words was incredibly difficult I ...

Post 487: Alone in the café, but not for long.
Post 487: Alone in the café, but not for long. I woke up with a determined feeling today, a feeling that would serve me well but not as I thought it would. I had fed the cat and as I sat on the bed, ready for a shower, I text the foot doctor a...

    No go again

So the 1st go at Cetuximab alone 2 weeks ago still induced mouth ulcers/mucositis.

    Previously blamed on the 5fu.

    Supposed to go again today.

Mouth still has sores. Bottom exits stingy. Nurse found a doctor.

Urine sample going to lab. She looked confused by results. The standard issues were not there.

Upshot is that 4 months after diagnosis, husband is still not on a treatment plan. And we are temporarily with the resident doctor while our consultant is in the Maldives.

    Btw, British Airways don't...

Post 485: 3–0 to the Arsenal and a big breakfast. I’ve been struggling to stay awake lately, which is partly to do with sleep deprivation at night, but I’m beginning to think it might be something else. What I mean is that even when...
