Post 554: A little bit more thinking about a lot of pain.
Oh my Lordy, when the pain comes it comes hard.
When the first pill alarm went off at 7am I was already awake as usual and after the stomach liner went down I slid out of bed with a gripping pain the whole way around my ribs which was a half pain but a heavy pushing pain on the top of my spine and neck.
The good thing was that I had a good sleep or rather I felt I had a good sleep and that made me happy for a change. I’m normally sad that I’ve had little sleep but my lifestyle is such that I can catch up with some impressive snoozing during the day ha ha.
The 8am pills went in chasing the omeprazole, all fifteen of the little buggers and life was good; or was it?
I went downstairs and fed Mr Vicious who has been somewhat of a model cat recently. A bit of a lap cat too with his winter coat filling out his skinny frame better than the at times, unhealthy looking scraggy summer coat.
I fed myself next, as I needed a bit of a boost to get myself ready for driving to town with my Darling, the three stone lighter Darling with a waist and a big smile, to get to the 11am fat-fighters club and then on to the café with her bestie.
But I didn’t feel right and the pain in my back had me tipping my head forward the whole time because of the pressure on my neck.
My Darling was showered and ready to go downstairs and I had pulled on my socks and shorts but as she shouted up to me,
“I can drive myself if you want, is totally ok, you can rest”,
I replied that that was a good idea and wished her luck on the scales.
She left the building and I turned stiffly to the shelf of pills in the bedroom and realised I should fill up those little plastic cubes of daily medicine in the dosset box with the whole weeks worth in it, in it.
So I stood uncomfortably for 25 minutes while I popped all the capsules out and chased them around and herded them into the little plastic corral with its ill fitting lids. Bloody pills.
After the strain of standing frustratedly doing the pills I had only one good idea and that was to flop onto the bed again and rest and snooze and watch tv. Well that was the plan.
The sun was low and blasting hot rays into my pit and it should have been easy to jump on the bed and relax but the moment my back punched against the raised head end of the medical bed I was in pain. More pain.
It took a while to recover my sanity and sit up on the bed in more comfort, but when that was done I could start to think. And think and think.
I was thinking about the Radium 223 treatment I’m not sure about.
In the end it’s my choice whether to go for the Radium injections but already everyone has assumed int a good idea to ask for, and if I am allowed funding if the strict criteria for the assessment is successful then it is my final choice to go ahead with it.
With this mornings pain after a week of the pains easing I’m not at all in the same mind frame with all these troubles back in my back. It’s horrible.
So in respect to my Radium treatment I previously was firmly on the fence over, I’m now mentally grasping at anything.
Well, the problem is that there’s only Radium and pills to choose from. I’m taking the pills and they only help so much so, Radium is the only way I can try to get better pain relief.
So without any more thinking, I decided to go along with the first step of the process towards the Radium; tests and more scans.
So I emailed a very brief note to my Cancer Care Nurse and within minutes had a reply from her saying that she will get the process started and someone will be in touch with you directly from the Cancer Center in the far away Hospital where I was on the ‘aberiterone trial’ 4 years ago.
So here we go.
Hopping on the bus.
Whether right or wrong I’m going for it.
My Darling tearfully received the annual award for Slimming World Icon 2026 voted by the local group of slimmers in town. It stopped her in her tracks but she has done something special for herself in shedding three stone. What a star.
She looks absolutely fabulous and all the hard work loosing the weight is added to her healthy outlook and tests she’s had lately on her cardiovascular systems and had great results from her now healthy body. She’s a keeper.
I’m in awe of her dedication because I’m a total lightweight when it comes to curbing my sometimes awful eating regime.
But it’s all about my Darling (not me) and what she’s achieved in just a year.
She’s wonderful. ️
